Anons, are watches outside casio, apple and rolex for weirdos, losers and fedora tier?
Cute girls and, young men and blue collar workers got their casios and gshocks
Tech fans, normies and old people that want to look younger and fit in w the times got their apple watches
Nigger rappers and wasps got their rollies, gold daydates or two tone dj for the first ones and steel sports for the others.
I think all other stuff is very niche and tends to attract autistic faggots. If you want a functional watch you got apple and casio, and if you want a status symbol, rolex.
Ill give you some nice advice anons, if u want a watch, get a casio/gshock or an apple watch. If you dont like them but dont have the cash for a rollie, find another hobby and get into it again when u have the cash for one

automatic watches are a meme.

literally paying more for a less accurate watch and for a sweeping motion instead of ticking which lets face it, you literally only look at for 5 seconds every now and then and completely forget is happening on your wrist for the rest of the day.

only reason for getting an automatic watch is if you like how it looks and can't get anything similar looking and doesn't come any other way.

don't get me started on those niggas who act like they prefer automatic watches because they act like it's going to be some sort of never dying heritage item. these same dudes are the same types who never even hold onto a watch more than a few years if that before they flip it or keep buying more and more watches that the whole heritage/signature item doesn't mean squat anymore

I looked on Chrono24.com where they sell watches, did a search for Omega from the 1950's, and one like yours immediately came up. The only difference was in the applied 12/3/6/9 compared with the painted on ones for you, but you have to remember that watches at this time in history had a lot of facial changes.

If you really want to know, take it to a reputable watchmaker and have him open the back. If you feel confident, then open the back yourself. The movement ID will be rather clear.

How is it running? Have you done any tests to determine the power reserve (how long it lasts), changes of rate based on positioning, etc.?

The model is basically what it says. Omega Automatic. There's no date complication, and automatic wind watches were a feature since most watches at the time were handwound, thus the writing on the face and the 'advertisement' of the feature.

If you opened it up, you'd get the serial number and the movement number, and you could research it that way through the Omega website. That would get you the precise information you may be looking for.

Hope that helps.

Enjoy the watch; Omegas from the 50s-70s are great for the prices you can get them today, many of which could hold to -4/+6 seconds a day if cleaned and properly serviced. So, comparable to modern COSC standards as long as you don't dunk it in water.

No no, nothing like that. But water resistance is a tricky thing with vintage watches. Given your photo, I'd guess (and it's just a guess, mind you) that there is already moisture damage because the lume squares on the face have turned black and crusty; usually this only happens when the dial has been subjected to actual water or the accumulation of moisture over the decades. I'd guess (and it's just a guess) that the case isn't water tight at all.

Gaskets can always be replaced, but it's a servicing issue that needs to be dealt with if you want it to ever go near water. Something that old I'd never put near water at all, but that's just me.

As I said, take it to a trusted watchmaker, have them replace the gaskets and service the watch, and then you'll be good to go. That's the safest way - a 250$ service goes a long way to keeping an old watch functioning.

There are tonnes. I love my Seamaster, but it's one of many. It's nice, comfy, and automatic. But I'm obviously biased.

What is the maximum lifespan of these things? I imagine with support it's about 3 years, and then maybe another 2 before it becomes too out of date to use and the battery dies permanently.
