Hit it's peak around 2010 - 12 then just kinda died out. Most of the super popular emo bands like AA, BMTH and BVB had changed their image and weren't emo anymore. Soundcloud sad rap is basically the new emocore phase anyways

Sounds about right. Although, for me I was in high school (Arizona) and it wasn't until '07-'09 all the deathcore was taking off. All the scene girls started to become basic bitches and no more coontails. The guys just become br00tal bois with the stretched lobes, flipped up hat bills. It seems the stretched lobe/br00tal look is the only remnants still around from back then.

Considering a lot of the bands from that time period were mid-late 20's and us boomers from that era are now that age. We're primed to set it off.
