Luxury watches are for stupid people, especially modern mechanical "tool watches". Newsflash: if it doesn't have electronics in it, performance and robustness wasn't the goal of the people who designed the watch, and therefore it's not a tool watch, it's a status symbol and that's it. Pic related is a tool watch, not a fucking Richard Mille or Rolex or whatever that costs 1000 times more and is way worse at actually being a watch.

I don't see why you're asking me this.

If watch A is better than watch B, it may make sense to buy watch A even if it costs more.

My point is that people are buying watch B (the worse one: less accurate, more fragile, less readable, less funcions, etc.) even though it is the more expensive of the two. It is both a worse watch, and more expensive. And they have the balls to call watch B "a tool watch", in spite of it being clearly much more fragile than it would be if it was made more like a G-Shock. That's my point. They are status symbols and nothing else.

>> No.14514026

Yeah, i think its just all postmodern culture. To sell expensive shit to boomers, they had to make complex things way different from budget stuff and then add the marketing fagotry, ie. Vroom vroom harleys, mechanical rolex watches, montblanc fountain pens, vroom vroom sports cars. Now its just add a logo to a tee and you have luxury, make some high margin made in china sneakers but in limited numbers, luxury. Its just marketing now without substance. "Worse" here is subjective. You're projecting your own priorities onto other people. A mechanical watch may be less accurate, more fragile etc but people buy them because they are, first and foremost, mechanical. A Gshock is better in terms of pure functionality but that's only the secondary reason for someone to want a mechanical tool watch.
They want a piece of mechanical artistry first, and functionality second, and there's nothing inherently wrong with that mindset

Okay, let's say they want something that's mechanic. I could ask why they want that, but that's another story.

Forget the fact that they are mechanical, that's just the beginning. Why use ceramic bezels, which are less practical because they break? or sapphire crystals, which break more easily too? because the whole "luxury tool watch" thing is just bullshit and nothing else. They also sometimes put fake patina, fake rivets. The watches are fake. There is zero honesty in those luxury watches. I'm not going to argue about this anymore. It's all bullshit.

Ceramic bezels and sapphire crystals are more scratch resistant. They started using those materials because they are MORE practical. Your arguments are paper thin, and all boil down to the fact you don't understand why someone would expressly want something mechanical. I've come to the conclusion that Titanium watches are the best for everyday wear

>non-corrosive
>lighter than SS
>don't absorb heat/cold like SS
>not as sweaty to wear
>non allergenic
>grade 5 Ti is actually stronger than SS

So I've narrowed it down to these choices (divers);

>seiko Shogun for $900
>Tudor pelagos $3700

archie recommends u buy 1 preowned steel rolex. other watch youtubers say buy this microbrand, that omega, bla bla bla..

well after having my Lange & sohne 1815 for a whole year before I finally sold it at almost breakeven/ small loss, Archie is godamn right.

steel sports rolex has shot up in price, and all the other brands have gone down the drain e.g. omega too many models, iwc too many models sellita mvmts, JLC - soft as dog*@& on the secondary market.

listen to archie, get a preowned explorer 2 or something ( I have the exp 1 because I like more minimal things), and your watches are already better than 95% of the plebs out there.

u can go cray with a datograph, royal oak, nautilus, but remember there's always alot of money to pay on servicing. like if you own a ferrari you will pay out ur ass for oil change, tire change, car insurance, etc etc.

and if u dont have enough for a rolex sports, then just wait for a market crash, and hope u saved enough money and/or sold ur depreciating automobile n traded it for a beater car, when the right time comes

The automatic mechanical movement was invented by Perrelet in 1770. They've been pumping out the same thing for 250 years. 800 000 mass produced Rolexes per year. Just imagine how many ETA 2824-2 movements, how many Seiko movements.

The last time a mechanical movement required some skill and craftsmanship, was when George Daniels developed the co-axial escapement. Other than that, it's quite repetitive. Of course the extremely high end watches will be polished by hand and whatever, and brands like Patek come up with impressive complications in their watches, but those are beyond the reach of this board, and irrelevant to the average ETA/Rolex/Seiko buyer.

Mechanical watches represent the memory of a craft, an homage of sorts. The most innovative watch nowadays is probably a solar radio G-Shock, because of, you know, their technological innovations.

I used to shill smart watches on here. i still do in a way.

but let me tell you something.

I went out a few times wearing a smart watch. Looked women in the eye while walking in sunshine on street. and in bars and clubs. Had more negative reactions than what I would typically expect.

I wore my fake Hublot classic fusion a few times. Had more smiles, less eye rolls, less looking up and away and more looking down in submission. One very hot blonde sat right near me in a coffee sgop and kept looking at me then looking away. She tried to initiate a conversation with me but I was stressed af working for a deadline that was today, not in the mood to be very forward and flirty with her like the opportunity demandded. It was more forward than I am used to for a coffee shop.

I used to think nobody noticed your watch at all. But some of my tests are saying that a fashionable watch matters and smart watch is huge no-no with women.

Also I just copped some £450 crocket&jones shoes for £60 on ebay. Women are supposed to notice shoes... lets see if its true

what plastic surgery are we talking about?

Honestly I think the $5k is FAR better spent on really good shoes, suits, tailored clothes, adding 2 inch lifts to your shoes, high quality food and 3 months of muscle gain, a hair stylist that will give you haircut that suits shape of head/face, etc. etc. etc.

Unless there is ONE thing really wrong with you (like a freakish nose) that you want surgery for, its not going to do too much for you. And a watch isn't either. Watches are really cost inefficient for improving appearance.

I think you should start intermittent fasting and eating lots of paprika and drinking lots of green tea every day to help burn belly fat (it really works, it always makes my belly fat go) and improve your complexion. Also eat a tin of sardines a day.

leg lengthening might be unrealistic. You cant walk for like a year or something.

Before steroids look into More Plates More Dates youtube channel. He is on roids and offers best advice. He also has great looksmaxxing content. You should wear boots more to get more height. He has great hair loss and hair gain content too.

Dont buy a watch. Actually maybe buy a $400 replica of a $5k watch. I advise Cartier Santos, Rolex Oyster Petpetual Grape dial, JLC ultra thin moon. Look up super replica list

Actually for those watches I listed you can tell them apart without loupe if you know some of the tells. The window of the IWC tourbillon is slightly too large. The Vacheron cross is slightly too 2D (so people buy real watchdials off ebay and substitute them in). Actually I think the JLC is very close and you need to use a loupe and check the edges of the font, its considered 'NWBIG' (not quite superrep but close)

To see a list of superreps go here: https://forum.replica-watch.info/forum/replica-watch-general-discussion/308081-consensual-list-super-reps-nwbigs
