Loopwheeling is when the body of the shirt is knit on a machine that leaves no tension in fabric and is tubular (no side seams). Loopwheeled sweatshirts and t-shirts as well as sweatpants are amazing to wear.

The lack of side seams is usually a giveaway. Other than that, it's hard to tell by looking. Often you can feel it when you handle the fabric.

All loopwheeled fabric is tubular knit, but not all tubular knit fabric is loopwheeled. Loopwheeling is an incredibly slow process that only will yield about a meter of fabric per hour per machine. Some tubular knit machines will output 20 times that, but then there is tension in the fabric which can cause it to distort over time. Think of a shitty t-shirt that goes all wonky after a few washes.

There are only three places in the world where they do loopwheeling. Two are in Japan, and one is in Germany. The German one is Merz b. Schwanen. The Japanese factories supply to a range of Japanese brands like The Real McCoy's, Iron Heart, The Flat Head, Strike Gold, Studio d'Artisan, etc. They will almost always state when a shirt has been loopwheeled or not. Just remember that the fit is usually a straight fit, because the knit is a tube, they cannot make a taper for a slim fit.
