That being said the Hamilton will be a much more versatile watch to wear. If you're really autistic about your watch matching your clothes and shit it's hard to justify that green dial. JLC, Longines, and Universal Geneve made some beautiful ones that go for the price of a new Submariner these days. I'm thinking about one of the respectable but lower tier brands like Wittnauer, LIP, or Benrus. The quality seems the same anyway. I have one of those and people seem to really like it because I get a lot of compliments. It's great, sure, it looks like a Royal Oak, a Laureato or a Piaget Polo S but that's kind of the point. The bezel makes it different enough. Quality wise, I don't think there are many new watches better finished than this for the 1300€ I paid (1800 retail).

They make it in 39mm now but I own the 42mm and because of the integrated bracelet it wears smaller than a normal 42. I can pull it off and I'm a wristlet so go for it if you want to.

She is wearing the older model. I hated patek altogether but when i saw the newer one with the fitted silicone strap, i fell in love and now even like the wafle dial that i used to criticise.

Damn silicone bands, they suddenly made me like watches that i hated (aquanaut, yachtmaster in gold/ceramic, new seamaster)

When i see them in comparison, the older one has a better dial, double indices at the 12 and longer, easier to read minute markings are way nicer. I would like the old model in gold but with the modern strap without the lug gap.

People that are into watches tend to overestimate how much everyone else know about them. Someone asked me the other day about my watch because he liked it and I told him that it was automatic while showing him the display caseback and he looked at me like I came from outer space. He didn't know that watches without a battery existed and when I asked him about watch brands he knew Rolex, Casio and Omega because of James Bond. After a while I told him about the watch Rafael Nadal has (he loves tennis) and how much it costs and I could tell his brain was melting trying to understand why an obsolete piece of metal that only tells time could cost so much.

If you buy the Aquanaut rep don't expect anyone to ask you about it unless they really like the design and even then only one in a million will be interested in buying one, the rest will just try to get how much it costed you because they're nosy as fuck.
