At one point in my life I was doing tons of acid every weekend, one day I convinced myself that I was balding, and shaved my whole head. That became my reality, I was balding. For almost 2 years I kept shaving my head and was extremely suicidal, eventually I decided to let it grow back and turns out it was just my hairline maturing. I'll bald eventually though, all my uncles on dad's side are bald, not my dad though, he's in his mid 60s and still has hair, thin but none if that receding hairline or bald patches shit.

Sorry to break it to you friend but the cure for male pattern baldness has been 5 years away for the last 50 years. It won't be.

What I would recommend is sorting out your life rather than being depressed. Right now you are in a rut. You arent thinking straight. You are thinking very black and white and you think everythings fucked.

Start exercising. Every day. Start reading books. I recommend:

Dont sweat the small stuff
Lost connections
The power of habit
Your brain on porn

Read all of these. And not just haphazardly. Get some highlighters and pens and proper study them. Whilst you're doing this over a few week also do 30 mins of cardio a day and some weight training. Get out in nature. Stop wanking. Stop watching porn. Buzz your head if its especially bad if not then just style it to minimise the damage.

Consider finasteride and minoxidil (which halts hairloss in most cases - the sides are very overstated)

Do all of this for a month, and then see how you feel. ALso no drugs, alcohol, gambling etc.

it'd be hard, but if you FIGHT and do this for a month I guarantee you will feel better. NO bad habits.

I coped by getting a transplant to my hairline. My crown and top of my head are pretty good though. But if I had the chance to do it over, I would have held off until I could find a great doctor who does FUE, instead of the strip I had done. It messes up the feeling of your scalp. It does get better over time but doesn't seem to go back to how it felt before, what with the skin being stretchered and all.

But now I have a big fucking smiley face in the back of my head, like Rogan. So I definitely don't have the option of shaving my head ever. I am too self-conscious and not Chad enough like Rogan to just say fuck it and let people see it.

I am also on finasteride and I think it helps. My dick is as strong as ever though. You do get a little bit of random testicular pain every so often when you start on it but that seems to subside with time. Also have to watch out for developing Gyno, but that hasn't happened to me yet. I keep up with my physical fitness and exercise quite regularly. First of all, I really want to be clear, you are balding. Ignore the "maturing hairline" shit, you are just flat balding. And that's fine, I knew several dudes in college who were at 19 (worse actually, since theirs were thinning, too, so at least you're got that going for you).

Just embrace it, man. My hairline started receding (or, rather, I noticed) at 24. I fucking freaked. Researched every possible solution. Drugs? Only if you want to roll the dice on your dick functioning. Transplants? It'll look like shit at first, cost thousands, and that is only used when it's well past my (or your) current state. 2 years of worrying constantly probably made more fall out.

Now I'm going on 28, it's more noticeable now since fractions of an inch are prime real estate but in reality it's barely progressed. I'm a little better off than your hairline but give it time, I'll catch up.

I would suggest growing the top a tiny bit longer while maintaining the sides. Friends from highschool with your hairline do that (with the same combing) and it looks fine. I wouldn't shave, at least not yet, since the hairline will still be seen and you aren't thinning.
