No one takes packs with pig snouts (the little square thing) innawoods. Similar systems that allow you to affix random little bits and bobs to your pack are still used, but are generally better integrated into the pack in a way that saves weight and eliminates the need for a sewn-on patch. The technology to make a pack like that was presumably not there yet when pig snouts were being put onto actual "outdoorsy" packs.

I'm a tree surgeon. If you a pig schnozz to climb you will die. They are utterly obsolete and have been completely supplanted by modern equipment and techniques for climbing. Don't even fucking bother using it to keep your bag bear-proof, just tie a line on to the straps which are infinitely stronger.

It's just a really practical bag. You can fit a laptop in there that will be protected from small scratches. It also has a space to put a small umbrella, the small pocket will keep your other things dry from a wet umbrella. The bag is relatively small for a bag that can fit a larger 15" laptop and the leather square could be used for carrying a pair of shoes. Not everyone buys a bag to make a fashion statement. The quality is also not bad. I have one for a few years now and it's still in perfect condition while I broke my Eastpak several times.

Too square looking, i prefer a slightly more rectangular shape. Also lacking top pocket. Best basic backpack I ever had was from adidas. Sure I had to cut up a yoga mat to give the inside some shape and padding but in terms of pockets and usability it was great. Too bad the zipper was single sided and died on me.

>> No.14351567

its important to note that most of those leather patches are just for looks... The ones that are actually meant to be load bearing are double-or-tripple stitched. If you thread anything more than 10lbs through the fashion statement ones, you'll probably just end up ripping it off.

The 5.11 sling is way more hardcore... Its fucking silly seeing it "deployed".

From the outside it looks like a non-descript teardrop bag with a few compartments(the chest strap also looks like its got 3 compartments on the cellphone holder pouch)

On the inside though, its molle and velcro with a weight distribution and load bearing strap that lets you use a submachine gun or carbine while its still strapped to your body. The chest pouch is also just one big pouch to hold a large pistole and an extra magazine.
