Another Patek release from this year's Baselworld, an evolution to the 5170, the 5172G. It's still powered by the CH 29-535 PS, housed in a stunning white gold case that sports triple-stepped lugs with a beautiful dark blue matte textured dial topping it all off.

Yes, because it's not a simple battery. Normal quartz watches are designed for easy swaps. A rechargeable cell is typically both much more expensive and is harder to replace because it's more integrated into the system.
It often ends up being a wash. If you change your own batteries (which, if you don't, why on earth not...well, if you care about a pressure test) then it's even cheaper to pop in a new battery every three years or so.

The 3V CR1216 used in Timex's are $3.62. They last about three years. We'll round down to a dollar per year.

Meanwhile, 3rd party testing found that after 20 years, Citizen's 295-29 MT920 retains 80% of its ability to be recharged.

The 1989 Tiananmen Square protests, commonly known in mainland China as the June Fourth Incident (Chinese: 六四事件, liùsì shìjiàn), were student-led demonstrations in Beijing (the capital of the People's Republic of China) for the establishment of basic human and press rights and against the Communist-led Chinese government in mid-1989. More broadly, it refers to the popular national movement inspired by the Beijing protests during that period, sometimes called the '89 Democracy Movement (Chinese: 八九民运, bājiǔ mínyùn). The protests were forcibly suppressed after Chinese Premier Li Peng declared martial law. In what became known as the Tiananmen Square Massacre, troops with assault rifles and tanks fired at the demonstrators trying to block the military's advance towards Tiananmen Square. The number of civilian deaths was internally estimated by the Chinese government to be near or above 10,000.

A Seiko Spring Drive is the ultimate SHTF watch
With a quartz solar watch, you still have to have the battery changed because it will eventually lose the ability to hold a charge
With the Spring Drive, the combination of the swinging pendulum and electric time keeping meaning that no battery change is ever needed, and as parts wear down and lubrication runs out, the electronics can compensate for this to keep accurate time.
You wouldn't be able to make your own battery in a SHTF situation but you could make new watch parts with the right tools
