So I finally got one of these fucking things

What are the rules? Is denim on denim okay? I'm thinking it is if my pants are black right?

thats fine

>> No.14217944

>>14217924
it's fine, but on guys, denim jackets have to be tight to keep from looking like a trucker, and most are too damned long. You want the jacket to end around the small of your back. Denim jackets were literally invented for oil field workers and truckers, who used to have to change their own tires, which is a greasy as fuck job. They fit like a smock, but it's not so desireable today.
If you get a very loose fit, you're going to be limited to those tumblr/soft grunge/japanese baggy black pant with the ankle taper type looks.

Well fitted denim jackets go well with chinos. denim on denim is fine, but wear a yellow shirt to contrast and avoid the canadian tuxedo look.

FUCK. I went ahead and got the size that isn't tight, but at least not loose; more well-fitted. It also goes past the small of my back. Am I fucked?

NO! thou art not fucked.
You can still wear the jacket in a good way. You could;
>unbutton, and roll up the sleeves to creat drape, if the sleeve cuff extends to the middle of your palm or below. This turns a baggy jacket into an 80s Akira look
>lift the collar
>actually learn to sew and raise the waist - although this may destroy any pockets.
>apply two buttons, or a pin as an experiment, to the back and force the jacket to be worn open. I'd say only girls can get away with this.

But before you do any altering, check to see if it's worth anything. Pre-1984 Levis can be worth good money.

I don't care for the exposed arms. But I do like the botton fringe. If OP wanted they could simply crop the jacket, and create punk fringe, or save the waist strap for resewing... which wouldn't take but a few minutes.
This is one with an acid wash/ dip. I like the chest patches.

I would fold, not roll, the unbuttoned cuff back to clear the hand, and help add a touch of drape. An exposed wrist bone is fine.
But here's a question - what brand is the jacket? I can't see the side of the front pocket, so it culd be Levis, or a clones, as most denim jackets are clones of the Levi's trucker model.

This shit depends entirely on the type of denim jacket. If you get a trucker then yes, you want it be somewhat snug. If you get a western one or a blouson then you do not and it looks stupid if you make it snug,

Are chore coats /fa/? Didn't want a trucker like everyone else, plus the zipper and blanket lining make it a better choice for colder weather. I like the color a lot too, black warp with blue overdyed weft. Got it in 2011 when raws were /fa/.

Chinos, dark brown, grey, olive. Matching wash jeans if you know how to style it. Some will say never match the washes but at this point it's a matter of taste. Black is just too easy, it's the go to when you can't think of anything. I do it too but I try to avoid it.

Not op but I have a Levis trucker that I bought in late 2016. I love it but I've also lost about 40 pounds since. I've always worn it un buttoned but I'm going to start buttoned looks along with rolling the sleeves up I guess.

How would you guys go about shrinking it?

>> No.14223002

>>14222960
I actually got a medium and the sleeves and chest area were a bit bigger than I liked. Small was too tight around the arms and chest. I threw it in the washer on the delicate cycle and then threw it in the dryer on medium heat. I kept checking in on it every half hour and it shrunk to the perfect fit.
