Share experiences, give tips, etc.

I wish someone would've told me minoxidil causes shedding before it causes regrowth. I thought I was done for and was close to buzzing it all off. I'm glad I gave it a bit more time and so it grew back. Hopefully I'll get some more gains coming months.

Seriously don't freak out about the sheds if you're using minoxidil and/or finasteride.

I also take finasteride btw. I was on finasteride for 8 months when I took the pic on the left. Many people suffer from a shed as well around this period. So I think I got a minoxidil and finasteride shed at the same time lol. I remember losing well over 200 hairs/day at that time. Pic on the right is about 1-1,5 months after that.

When I first started taking it, I got blasted with some pretty worrying sides. My boner went from like a 95% to a 78-79% or thereabouts. Like, the body was hard like usual, but the tip felt like it didn't have any blood in it (it was also weirdly cold). I also lost it in like, 30 seconds of inactivity. I started taking ZMA supplements and they work crazy well; I get morning wood again, my erections go up to about 92% with no effort, and my cum is no longer watery. I was deficient to start with, but it's always an option if you're afraid of sides.

t. bald guys

1 milligram of finasteride for hair loss is litterally impossible to cause side effects, unless you already have hormonal or psychological issues. It's only at the higher doses (that they give to prostate patients for which the drug was originaly intended for) that side effects occur more regularly (and even then it's still a small percentage.

Stop bashing this drug if you've never tried it. It's like you want people to go bald so you're not alone.

I'm balding as well. Started taking finasteride for about a year ago.

It works, but it's not a miracle. It stopped my hair from falling out and regrew some tiny, thin hairs so it's not that bad at the moment.

>> No.14200688

>>14200413
Finasteride should at least prevent further follicle miniaturization and thus stop hair from further thinning. In rarer cases new hair may grow back in the thinned out sections, e.g. streghtening the hairline. In even more rare cases hair may regrow to some degree. There was a /fit/izen who was only on finasteride and said that he got some of his temples back after about 1.5 years, to which even his derm was surprised. Even though the third occurence may sound the most ideal, it would be best not to hope for it.
Another thing with fin is that with age DHT levels may start climbing and the medication may no longer be potent enough. At that point, finasteride users move on to durasteride which is a harder drug.

This is just information that I gleaned over by browsing hair loss forums and articles. Finasteride doesn't lower follicle sensitivity to DHT. But it does lower DHT levels and that in effect helps follicles from shrinking, while offering the potential to grow back over several hair growth cycles. The cycles are pretty long so that's why new hair growth isn't instant. Though neither is hair loss.
In effect if finasteride is dropped DHT will climb back to normal and continue affecting your follicles as originally. So you do have to stay on it and probably monitor your DHT as well just to be sure you are under the threshold whatever that is for you. Nothing bad will happen if you forget to take a tab once or maybe even twice a week, but you still have to be regularly on it.
The side effects can range from depression to loss of libido. Some may go totally limp. Though these may affect only 3% of users, they still tend to be very vocal about it. It's probably best to stop taking finasteride if any of the side effects become apparent, or at least try to lower the dosage, presuming your levels and still under control. I guess that for some men even finasteride may not prove useful, even moreso if they are having a negative reaction to it.
I'm not yet on fin due to having to have a prescription for it in this part of the world, online sellers don't even want to ship it here. Doesn't help that most men here cope by not doing anything with their receding hair so I'm not expecting any local dermatologist to give me fin rather than suggest some other flakier methods, especially when the cheaper 5mg doses are only meant for prostate treatment in the papers.
Finasteride is no longer under patents so if you see any generics you can buy them. Lots of them are available as 5mg tabs which are cheaper than the 1mg ones that are marketed for hair-loss. Most users cut 5mgs into quarters and take them over the course of 5 days as the suggested daily dose is 1mg.

Wow, thanks for the info. It sounds like it is worth experimenting with. That's too bad you can't get it easily there. I'm in the US so I have no idea what availability is like.

I already do a bunch of natural stuff to help keep my hair growing. I supplement these: saw palmetto, pumpkin seed oil, pygeum, biotin, calcium/magnesium/zinc, d3. I also massage the following essential oils into the scalp weekly: rosemary, cedar, clary sage, tea tree. Finally, I rarely shampoo but if I do it's all natural castille soap and I use an apple cider vinegar solution with essential oils as a conditioner daily.

>>14206738
>I hear the transplant density can't compete with natural hair. Is that because of the limited amount of donor hairs or is there some other reason?
Ok I know alot on this topic so I'll try to explain what I know. You can look up anyhting I say if you don't believe me. Firstly, youi should know that on a normal scalp, you can lose up to 50% (!) of your hair before it becomes even noticable. So yes, you won't be getting the same density as you once had, because of - indeed - the limited amount of hair follicles in your donor area. But you will still get enough density to cover up your scalp. Also, HT doctors implant your follicles more densely in your frontal hairline/scalp and leave your midscalp intentionally thinner. This is so your hair appears more dense than it actually is and so there are more follicles available for other balding areas.

>Have you been following the follicle cloning for transplant purposes testing going on in Japan?
Yes, I believe you're talking about replicel. It will be available pretty soon in Japan, but for EU/US you'll have to wait longer because we require more testing trials. This guy has a good video on it about their latest updates.
