That’s just not true. Convincing to some rube who has never handled one in person perhaps. Their dial finishing is top notch. It’s not easy to fake their matte texture with a sandwich dial and monster lume. If you disagree feel free to post your Panerai.

Depends on the lume. The lume on newer Seiko dive watches is so long lasting that I can read the time on this watch in total darkness 7 hours after it was exposed to light, no problem. And that's without deliberately charging it before taking it off for the night.

Anons please, dont buy japanese watches if you’re over 16 or live in a third world country. Watches are jewelry and the traditional meme luxury country is Switzerland, all normies know this. If you have less than $500 for a watch, buy an apple watch, it will be far more age appropiate and aesthethic than the other trash people post on this thread. You’ll have to charge it every night but at least you wont lose much money when you get tired of it in 2 years. If you are +30, buy a Tag Aquaracer or Carrera on the grey market. Tag Heuer is included in the white paper on fine watchmaking as an historic maison and are only a step above of Longines in price. Probably the solar ones like here: >>14173109
i.e. the SNE497 or SNE498.

They're like 1mm smaller and thinner than the first "real" tunas: the SBBN031/033 etc (which are a massive step above the solar SNE tunas in many ways).

>> No.14173299

The Seiko STBR models are 42.7mm wide to the outside of the shroud and 11.5mm thick. They are the smallest shrouded Seiko models.

>>14173292
The STBRs are much smaller than the SNE49x solar tunas, and they are 2mm less in diameter and 2.7mm less in thickness than the SBBN031/033.

The SBBN models were specially designed for saturation divers working in harsh conditions and have steel shrouds, a higher torque, more shock resistant jeweled quartz movement, and a very good ratcheting clasp on the 031.

That said, the solar tunas are less than half the price and you can get an aftermarket steel shroud for them.

>as I understand it Seiko's been using this upgraded lume on all their newer divers
Yes, but it's not the same across the different models.

The limited edition S23626 (picrel) for instance is a top-of-the-line Tuna that costs around 2.3k, but the lume on it is not as strong as the "regular" 300m, 600m or 1000m Tunas because the lume plots are somewhat smaller and the application is somewhat shallower.

On the 300m Tunas for instance, the lume is laid into deep, round dial recesses.
The Tunas with this application give the absolute best lume in the entire Seiko lineup.

SNE49x
Diameter: 46.7mm (45.x if you upgrade to a steel shroud)
Thickness: 12mm

STBR
Diameter: 42.7mm
Thickness: 11.5mm
