This Quantieme Perpetual is an automatic, self-winding perpetual calendar watch. Coming in at 8mm thick, it's remarkbly thin, considering it's complications. This is achieved by using the time-tested AP cal. 2120, with an added perpetual calendar module.

Not quite sure, it's a rare piece by AP being it a salmon dial. I can't find the actual reference for the salmon version but a yellow gold QP is ref. 5548.

It's not as important as some people make it out to be. A 50$ Seiko 5 has an in-house movement, that doesn't say much. Swiss houses back then were big on sharing movements & plans. But that didn't mean they just plop in the movement and call it a day. They all modify them to their liking, finish them up to their own standards, add modules, and etc.. So even if it's not technically in-house designed, it's still completely unique to the brand that used it..Today, things has changed quite drastically with brands reacting to consumers, they now tout in-house movements. But that's just a big selling point, we still have to look at quality, finishing, etc...

Yes I have a manual wind titanium Luminor Marina with tobacco dial from the early 2000s. I really like it, movement is nothing special but it’s a simple watch that is more accurate than my Speedmaster and Datejust. My only qualm is it’s 44mm and feels it, but think that Panerais should be big. Next one will probably be a 42 mm Radiomir.

> I need something to throw money at general
Just buy a casio or a seiko if you have to have a piece of jewellery. Nothing wrong with that either, I wear my casio with certain outfits.

What bugs me is that half the people that obsess over a seamaster or a rolex online couldn't even tell you what a clickspring is. It's not a genuine interest for 90% of the people posting about it, it's just something to throw money at.

Someone post that image of the guy calling out the reddit fucks who buy expensive shit in line with the hivemind. Watches, multiple mechanical keyboards, headphones. It's no different from the consumerism the same people make fun of. No different from the 16 year old girls at the malls buying plastic jewellery and polyester clothes every week.

Is there anything I should pay attention to when buying a watch box?

I have 3 watches I use regularly, but I realized that it's a stupid idea to leave them out on a desk by my front door.
