De Bethune won the Aiguille d’Or distinction at the GPHG Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève in 2011 for the DB28. This limited edition of ten DB28 Kind of Blue follows this success, introducing the same watch with a very different aesthetic.

This DB28 is made out of blued-titanium, including the bridges, and blued-steel hands. Is it too blue?

I think that watch is beautiful personally, but then again Im a fan of Richard Mille so maybe im crazy. I think my next watch will be this Planet Ocean 43.5mm. Tried it on last week and it actually wears quite a bit smaller than 43.5, basically the same fit as a speedmaster. I'm also in the water a lot and dive sometimes so I think it will be a good fit.

Here's the manually-wound DB 2115 calibre movement. All 299 components are hand-finished. 6 days of power reserve, thanks to the twin barrels seen on the dial-side of the watch, with a contrasting rose-gold power-reserve indicator on the movement side.

Good choice on the PO and it sounds like a perfect fit for you, try checking out grey market, you might find a deal. The DB28 is definitely beautiful, some might think it's a bit toy-like but I'd say it has a futuristic styling.

In focus is the DB 2115 calibre's triple-parachute shock-absorbing system. The bridge of the triple parachute is secured by a spring-based system, protecting the heart of the movement. The various architectural elements are connected by three jewels, thereby absorbing shocks and ensuring precise re-positioning of the bridge after displacement.

Here’s the text I re-phrased.

The manually-wound DB 2115 calibre movement not only displays finishing of the highest quality, with hand-decorated components, but is also technologically exceptional - representing De Bethune’s unique combination of cutting-edge precision and 18th century tradition. The 299 components show remarkable hand-finishing, with concentric graining and sharp, polished-bevels.

>Waltham Watch and the race to the moon
This is a nice story (pic related), but I can't find any citation for it. The Wikipedia citations don't seem to have the information they pretend to have and Waltham moved to Switzerland in 1957 (despite supposedly helping Raytheon and MIT in 1962).
>[6] "Raytheon's homepage".

http://klabs.org/richcontent/Misc_Content/AGC_And_History/AGC_History.htm

What I was able to find, however, was reference of using a section of the abandoned Waltham Watch Co. building for the project.
>It was decided to take over a big section of the old Waltham Watch Company building, which was in pretty rough shape when we took occupancy. The lavatories were the crummiest I had ever seen, with signs on the doors reading: "Your Management Takes Pride in the Facilities It Provides Its Employees." In time, RCA did a nice job rehabilitating the building.
>Eventually we got some other contracts, and we began outgrowing the Waltham Watch building, which wasn't an ideal place anyway.
https://history.nasa.gov/SP-4106/ch1.htm

Anyone have any more information or insight on this?

Read the comments on that Instagram link. Tristano lifted copyrighted photos for his videos, got contacted by the owner of said photos. He played dumb and said he thought it wasn’t copyrighted, then he said it was fair use. Which it isn’t, he’s profiting off of someone’s copyrighted material (YouTube monetisation). Owner of photos asked him to take it down, Tristan’s again, didn’t and now he said he’s just going to credit the owner. Owner is rightfully offended after asking nicely multiple times, left him no choice but to file DMCA claims against Tristano. Tristano is striked out on YouTube and might lose his channel monetisation all because he couldn’t swallow his fucking pride. Read the watchuseek thread above.

I was looking at california dials because i remembered them all of a sudden and found it.
The rolex is nicknamed bubble back and is some version of a 1930 oyster perpetual. Google that stuff, there is so much interesting variations in the older ones. Now the standard submariner appears even more boring and uncreative.

>>14141220
The idea behind it is to easier distinguish between the numerals. It's alway 2 numbers, indice(rectangle or triangle). They figured out that this would be the best method to see them under water.

I came to a similar conclusion
>have submariner hommage, circles and rectangles on dial
>have trouble to distinguish between the 4 and 5 hour dot when only glancing at it quickly

Out of boredom i turned my diving rings triangle to the 4 dot, now its easier. Of course i can just look a moment longer and see it easily, but that would be boring.

See, this is what differs me from you. I'm not going to jump at a conclusion like that without proof. It could just as well be this case:
>He doesn't want to talk about his fuckups because of pride
>really has a sick relative

>>14141245
>What more proof do you want?
I received ZERO proof. About the photographs, yes sure. But not about him lying about a sick relative. The two claims aren't bound to each other, both needs proving in their own right. If I prove that you're a homosexual, I can't actually say that I know that you took archies' dick in your ass (just because it's true that you're a homo), I would have to prove the assfucking as well.

Well it's finally here. All it needed was a battery and it started right up. Still I am going to service it. The chrono-seconds hand sometimes sticks anyway.

Also this is in really good condition. The plastic buttons are not mangles, the bezel insert is fine, there's no water damage, and the crystal only has one tiny scratch. Also I got the original bracelet links in a zippy bag.

Other things I noticed:
>bezel is bidirectional, but it's still 60 clicks
>only the caseback is steel, the case looks like is aluminum
>while the movement itself feels and moves ridiculously tight the dial and hands look kinda low-tech and basic. Not nearly as refined as the normal Omega-lookalike 7A28's
>again buttons and crown feel very precise

Also the serial number is weird. It starts with a 2. Now every source says Giugiaro watches came out starting from 1983. Were these made as late as October of 1992, the year when 7A production was shut down? I doubt this is some ridiculous grail super early pre-production watch.

>he bans people saying that a copyright problem is the reason to his absense
>this must mean that he is lying about a sick relative
NO, that needn't be so at all.

Here's something that we know about his group:
TGV has ALWAYS deleted unwanted posts and banned people that say anything negative about him or even about watches, whether it is about exposing truth about him, or whether it's merely a shitpost. If you say something like "Ah I really dislike seiko, wouldn't buy that sarb033 at all" in that group, then the post would be deleted and you would receive a warning, and if you went on like that even more, then you'll be banned. The group is all about "be positive or fuck off". Yeah might be silly but it's how it works in that group.

Knowing this, I could easily see that he would delete posts or ban users who spread misinformation about him in that group. To the untrained eye it might look like this is some kind of supporting proof of your theory, but in fact it's the kind of post that he would delete anyway, so it doesn't really tell you much actually.

The fact that someone filed a restraining order on him does not prove that this is the reason for him not being at work, and especially it does not disprove that he has a sick relative that he has to take care of.

UNLESS; the restraining order is for his workplace. If you're telling me that he actually can't create more content on his youtube channel right now because of that copyright issue, then yes I think I will agree that his reason not to post videos must be because of that copyright issue obviously.

Still, logic dictates that you still have not disproven his sick relative
And more importantly, nobody answered me about whether it is actually true that his mother is alive after him telling everyone that she's dead.

That’s the analogy. Someone at work filed a restraining order = no work.

YouTube has given Tristano strikes for copyright infringement = no uploading videos aka his job.

Go post proof of his sick relative then because right now all the proof we have right now is showing that he’s guilty of stealing photos and refusing to take them down which correlates to his YouTube videos being taken down and him being unable to post because of YouTube’s punishment.

It’s a guilty man’s words vs a victim’s. He literally cannot upload because he is limited by YouTube due to the strikes. How can you not understand that?

This is my last response to you, go do your own research. Read the forum posts linked above. Go look on reddit and see what they’re saying. Read about YouTube, copyright strikes and what you can and can’t do when you receive them.

Anyone know what he's talking about regarding the stuttering second hand? The stuff he tells you to google. Seems retarded if the second hand stutters on the descent and stops for a second when you shake the watch. Lost almost all interest in Vostok Komandirskie k-34 when he talked about that.

Fuck this watch.
Bought it a while ago for pretty cheap on ebay, listed as broken and the crystal is fairly beat up. Disassembled the module and cleaned it and two segments of the display are out. So I thought it was probably the circuit at fault. Managed to source a fucked watch with a 248 module from Pakistan of all places for dirt cheap and used that circuit and the display is still faulty.
It still works fully but I think I'll cut my losses and flip it for a small profit.

>You always turn to the watch you prefer to wear, not because of its heritage, its engineering, or anything externally commented on by others. You wear it because it feels right, it looks right, and it performs as you expect, because it's yours and no one else's. You miss it when it's not on your wrist, and you remember all the good and tough times you had while wearing it. Then you see a drawer full of other watches, some more expensive than others, but none having the same personal provenance as the one you miss the most, and you ask yourself, what are these...things?
>You try to make these kinds of histories happen with new watches...but it never quite works. You always remember the first, the real one, the one that made a difference and was not just one of many.

Well, I have never sold one of my watches...only given it to family members. But I'm at the point where I could easily and without concern purchase my grails...not all at once, of course, but it wasn't possible years ago.

And now that I can, I don't have the incentive anymore. But other Anons who've been here long enough have heard this before, so I won't repeat.

I was looking at Pocket Watches for the past week, intensive. I'd settled on a beautiful piece...I didn't pull the trigger because I wanted to wait and see if my feelings on it changed. And of course it did, this afternoon in fact. It became 'just another' of the many...and I know I'd never be able to make it 'mine' the way that my current daily wear is definitely mine.....It's really fucking weird.

But I like your approach...that it will 'be a dependable tool for someone else'. A good way to think of it.

No they won't. I have one for a year, that I bought used from a local guy and it runs fine. Loses 6s a day or something. It's a bit too big for my wrist in this photo, I gave to my dad as a present later. Most Parnis have the same Japanese miyota movements inside and the ones that don't have Chinese ETA clones which are good enough. The ones from the website come with a warranty and come pre-lubricated so they're good for a while. If you'd get one for cheap from ebay they're cheaper and worse, they are best acquired from the official website or from aliexpress.
But even if they were less reliable(which they're not, in my experience, anyway, I'd rather have a nicer looking watch for a shorter time than an ugly seiko5 shitter for 20 years.

I’d actually love a thermometer on my watch as well.

Did you hand wind it ever?
You need to do that for it to run well. When I never handwound the parnis pictured it ran at like +15, once I handwound it ran at just +4. I don't why a movement in a parnis(especially if it's miyota) can't outlast or match a seiko.

I actually have a watch with a thermometer and a compass and a barometer, it's a casio protrek. But the thermometer has limited usefulness as you're wearing it because your wrist is warm and raises the temperature reading a lot above background

Sry for shitty motion blur, I'm really a clumsy asshole when it comes to photography.

Anyway I read that the original idea behind the offset lugs is that the whole watch face could stay outside the cuffs for fast access.

I guess in contrast for watches where the lugs are offset the opposite way, like the diver Giugiaro, and the G-Shock Frogman the idea would be that the watch doesn't dig into the user's wrist. Especially for the bigass brick that is the Frogman.

That's how Henriksen wore his.

I don't know what handed he is, but I think I'll check Terminator 1, I remember he wore some typical 80's digital watch in it.

I meant something with a double curved crystal, more like the Hublot you posted, but not like it. I remember Watchfinder put out a video with a watch somewhat like I'm looking for that had 2 curves, one from top to bottom and one from side to side, anyone remember which one that was?

That watch is indeed to big for him but that's not because of parnis, that's because of IWC being tasteless shitters and prodicing gargantuan watches. And they still managed to cut off numerals, bravo.

>>14142799
This. Parnis has impressive build quality.
>Solid bracelt
>rounded, milled endlinks
>rolexes diver extension
>screwed bracelet links
>some models with a ceramic bezel
>sapphire crystal
These things alone would be used to raise the price of EU watches via marketing.
Most people are just so clueless that they continue to believe the marketing lies they been fed to their whole life.
