I like the looks of the Rolex Explorer and the Jaeger LeCoultre Polaris, but I am too poor to buy one and feel comfortable treating those without care. What some European brands are doing is they're contracting Chinese factories to stamp out rough case blanks to their specs using metal to their specs. I have been browsing quartz watches and there are plenty of "luxury" options which are significantly less expensive than the less accurate, unreliable mechanical models. The breitling aerospace and omega x33 seem like fancy options but I don't want to pretend to be an astronaut or a pilot or a scuba diver or that I think owning a $1,000+ watch is financially a good idea.
I still have no idea and probably won't buy anything. I can't find a digital watch that is high quality and small. they're all huge even when quartz is supposed to be smaller than mechanical. I want a small good looking digital watch that has at least 100m water resistance, as much as you'd ever need unless you are scuba diving. finding a tasteful digital watch at all is challenging.

Engraved ceramic bezels look nice sometimes. Parnis and rolex has some good ceramic bezels.
