Its an open ended genre that can extend and overlap a multitude of aesthetics. Styles range from blacked out techwear to colorful prints. Conceptual high fashion runway peices to derelict dystopian grunge. Unlike most genres, there are no true defining traits, but here are some guidlines/tips.

>Overcoats- Mil surplus & worn patterned textiles for a dystopian look. Techwear or even rainwear for a cleaner futuristic aesthetic. Leather is risky, if it's not just the right peice youll throw off the whole fit. That applies 2x for dusters, they can work but are extremely hard for most to properly pull off.

>Tops - Plain tees, mesh, ringer necks, corsets, layered bodystockings, crop tops, utility vests, flack jackets, one shoulder halters. Retro 90s styles tend to work well up top. Custom printed shirts are a good way to set off a fit.

>Bottoms- Cargos, camo anything looser fit. Avoid jeans, as they tend to casualize a fit. Plaid skirts, print skirts, dustressed stockings/fishnets.

>Footwear - Loud sneakers or subtle boots. Sneakers are a good way to add color and contrast to an otherwise more subtle fit. On the converse, boots can add a more serious tone to pull together a more eccentric fit.

>Accessories - Over the shoulder bags, backpacks, Digital watches, Casts seem to be a popular theme and I can see it, Masks work well for photos but I don't recommend wearing one full time.

While elements tech, terror, 90s, goth and even athleisure can be present; the constant underlying theme is a grotesque level of shock factor. Other worldly aesthetics, paranormal activity, kink, medical devices and disability play heavily into the visceral malaise that defines the core of dwc.

Amputees, latex, aliens and bdsm are far more inline with the high fashion interpretation of the genre than larping in photos as your favorite character from hackers with an old computer in the background. Now of course, high fashion does not equate to street fashion, it's purpose is to serve as inspiration and present the defining elements that can be incorporated more casually to achieve a given aesthetic.
