As an aside, my father used to tell the young guys at work that "You shouldn't wear brown South of the Tay." He was referring to the river Tay in Scotland and the implication being that's where one went to indulge in country pursuits. It was like his own version of "A gentleman doesn't wear brown in town." It's all complete waffle and he'd gladly tell you as much but apparently it used to wind up the guys in their new tweed suits something fierce.

If you don't know what to look for, thrifting isn't a good idea. Especially if you're a newbie. At your level I'd look for Ralph shirts and maybe a Barbour jacket if it's not in bad condition.

Otherwise since you're a poorfag you should buy basics like landsend ocbds and chinos with bass weejuns/Allen edmonds. Uniqlo do cheap but decent sweaters which will hold you over until you can afford something better.

Assuming you're an American of course. I'm British so take this advice with a grain of salt.

Other advice.
Get a hair cut. Something classic that requires only a little maintenance.
Shave your 'beard'.
Don't wear slimfit slacks. Trad trousers are supposed to drape not stick to your legs like sweet wrappers.
Wear natural fibres
Lift a bit. Even if you're just doing pushups. Trad is a masculine style. Never forget that.

People keep saying that but Luxire's selections and options and shit are really overwhelming. What am I supposed to search for, or enter into the custom design (besides unfused, button down collar and white oxford cloth)? Sorry if this is a pleb question but I literally can't make any headway through that site, it just dunks your head in shitty, ugly options like hyperspread collars and excessively expensive Italian garbage fabrics.

Shoe trees.

But if I were you I'd save up for a pair of Crocketts, they're pretty nice. Or maybe get a pair of Meermin dress boots, even their cordovan boots are fairly affordable.

Get a shirt you like (I got one from Hartford) and get a tape measure and copy it. Oh and start off with cheap Oxford cloths. The sky blue is good (thicker than your average mall tier shirt). Luxire do a trial shirt that is cheap and that you can send back for modifications.

Oh and a tip. Always make your shirts long. I made all mine 80cm and they tuck in great.

Here it goes, the shoe I use with suit, a pair of sandals and the training sneakers are not shown.

From left to right:
- Timberland Chukka Sneaker: it has goretex and its what I usually use on rainy days or for clubbing, they are easy to clean, comfortable and perfect for that task
- Sebago Docksides: I only use them in summer, nearly everyday
-Onitsuka Tiger GSM: sneakers, I hardly ever use them
-Sebago Drake: short chelsea boots, along with the loafers, they are my goto shoe for winter. They are waterproof
-Antica Cuoiera penny loafers: I use them nearly everyday on winter/autumn/spring

I´ll probably get a new pair of loafers (beefroll pennies) and wallabees

I bought a jacket, can I get a fit check please? I'm thinking the sleeves need to be lengthened and the waist let out a little bit. I was originally thinking of getting a two vent jacket, but for whatever reason the single vent one fit better.
