hey. got this instagram that no one follows besides bots and a couple of nice people that just probably like a story or two that I ironically post twice per a month.

what should I do with the photos that people would find it attractive or interesting? clothing (not all, ofc), selfies and body photos are retarded, so what are the options.

>> No.13975585

Bumping for interest
I'm on the same train dude, but my problem is that I'm just not good looking, I need to take like 20 selfies in order to get a decent one
Also I don't know what tf I should post, and one of my fears is having no likes on pics
I think creating an account would bring me more problems than solve them, so I honestly dunno what to do
The social pressure is pain in the ass as well, wherever you meet new people you are asked for your insta name and saying that you don't have one makes you look like a lonely uninteresting loser

i disagree for the second part. Not having any social to tangle with, is healthier for the brain and looks cool among less faggy teenage cucks.

If you feel that way about IG, Don’t use it, it’s totally not worth it. Rather spend your time on other social sites as their content is less shit than constant ig food photos and selfies

Post as an anon and put out whatever content YOU enjoy. if it's enjoyable for you than someone else will like it too. just remember that likes only grow on insta if you're on the explore page or have a growing following so dw about little to no likes at the start

My biggest tips are:
- Start an account with no one you know following (you can add them later when you're more comfy)
- Post whatever and whenever without shame. You can delete that shit later and repost the best when you gain more followers
- 20-29 hashtags with a call to action in the caption (hashtags can go in comments)
- Delete bots and rush to 100 followers to use insights
- Once at 100 go ahead and follow your insights, fix your page up (edit captions and delete old hashtags), and generally make it more your style
- Have days to take as many photos as possible and save them so you can have spare to post
- Use apps like 'Later' on your phone to set up posts in advance

From my experience with insta and the algorithm, your best bet is to spam posts with similar hashtags and hope you start getting on the explore or recommended.

Hope I've given something of use, good luck anon

Don't be that faggot that focuses on his ratio. I.e. Don't friend then unfriend people just to boost numbers, especially if you unfriend cool people.*

If your stuff is any good you'll gain followers organically and in the various IG share threads that pop up on the chans and leddit.

I like the idea of creating a bit of a following then adding the people you know afterwards.

*Exception: You can friend-unfriend mouth-open-smilers like is typical of leddit.

>focusing on likes gives you social anxiety/depression

This is true and is shown in the literature.

However, consider that many people will think you are strange for not having social media. I know, it sucks and only vapid people will think that, but it's true. The first question a girl will ask herself if you don't have an IG is, "what is the reason?". If the answer to that isn't apparent then she will avoid you.

This only applies to <27ish. Anyone over 30 didn't really "grow up" with social media and gets a pass.

- Listen to what >>13976341 said and don't be that faggot
- If you don't want to post then don't force yourself otherwise it'll become more work then fun
- Seriously have fun with it and treat it like a creative space
- Look at what more popular accounts you're interested in are posting and where they could improve. Apply it your content as well as analysing yourself occasionally
- Engage with similar accounts (comments, likes and maybe even DMing. I've made friends just by DM accounts I liked and starting a convo, worst case is they don't talk rlly)

I just turned 30. I live in the big city and just want a spot to dump all my photos and create a social resume. I think it also gives you a reason to go do cool shit. not that I want to live through my cell phone but actually just push myself to think more about my social life and create some awesome "memories". call me a f a g all you want but its not a bad way to push myself. I hardly take photos and feel weird doing it. Fuck doing selfies also feels weird to me. But I am good looking (yeah I ain't posting shit) I've also been working out for 10 years. I don't even look 30 more like 25.

In the end, it's best to have social media and post cool shit and forget about likes. Having a cool IG with fewer likes is better than none at all, and will help keep the anxiety at a minimum.

Also consider vsco. No likes or counted followers.

the problem is precisely some people cant forget about the likes, one of the dudes here said he fears having no likes and even thought it sound easy just saying "ayy just dont care about likes bro like just dont look at the screen bro" it really doesnt work, thats why i recommend just not getting an ig if you feel its gonna tax your mental health

Just post what you made and what you like, don't bother with the best way to grow etc.

That said: do engage with other accounts, reach out and collaborate on whatever and remove bots that follow you.

I use it as a kind of backlog where I can see my work progress from really shit to somewhat decent. Kinda like an honest version of a portfolio timeline.

Basically Instagram decides who gets to see what you post, that goes for getting on the explore page, but also for whether or not it will even show your stuff to your followers.

It decides this by your engagement. If you post to 1000 followers and get 20 likes, your engagement is low and Instagram won't show your stuff to anyone

The higher your engagement, the more people see what you make.

If you don't bother with hashtags or growing your account actively, bots can become a somewhat relevant part of your followers early on (especially if you're following large accounts) if they don't like or comment, the people that actually care about your stuff might not see it.

How to: bots are super obvious, just block em, if you've got large amounts of bots following you, you can use an app that checks user activity.

This is also why most accounts that buy followers end up dead btw.

>> No.13978361

>>13977932
Does the amount of people I’m following affect this?

I have about 5k followers, my last post got 1500 likes, but up until now I followed everyone back. So my follower ratio is like 1 to 1

>> No.13978910

I just hit 20k with a ~20% engagement rate. Here are my best tips/what grew me from 1k to 20 this year.
>consistent theme. Dont have wildly varying backdrops and color schemes. The more consistent your feed is, the more likely people are to follow you, after all, if they click your profile from a picture they want to see more like it. Transition your colors gradually.
> This is really key: get niche. Super niche. Start small and then you can broaden your image as you grow. Pick your general style, then stick to a sub style for a while, especially if you can find one with a modest number of hashtag posts (easier to trend)
> Ditch the big, generic hashtags. If it has over 500k posts, just forget it, nobody will see it. Try to stick to hashtags with less than 300k even. If you have <1000 followers, utilize some hashtags with 10k or less posts. Get specific. If you have <10,000 aim for the 30-80k range hashtags.
>Comments are important to boost visibility. If you can, try to work a question in to your post.

>> No.13978917

>>13978361
If you follow more than 1500 Instagram might flag you as a bot/mass follower so yes, that could effect your visibility

This. I left school early to be independent and as a result my social circle got nuked, started a new account and got 60~ pretty fast followers while only following my gf and posting one pic, not commenting or liking anything besides her shit.

Now I'm single and have had a couple girls on tinder ask for my ig to confirm I'm not catfishing them, if you're good looking you can play the "here it is, but I don't really use it because social media is whack" card, but if you're an autist or ugly it'll just come off as lonely. Don't let yourself get sucked in.

Go somewhere interesting or have a creative take on your boring neighborhood.

Or post non-photo content, make some digital art or something. Instagram is perfectly suitable for stuff that's not photography as well.

Just be creative and have fun with it anon :)

unless you are looking to actively grow without true quality content of course, but then you should throw out all advice and Google how to edit orange/teal photos of pretty girls and post those.

>> No.13982640

Couple of ways to do this, almost all of them incorporate not giving as much of a fuck though.

Whatever you do, if you want to have fun with it you should only post stuff you like.

Stick to a theme if you enjoy that, post completely randomly if you enjoy that.

I like street/night photography, so I stick to that mostly.

If you like taking selfies, making animations and are in a punkband, post those things. Any kind of digital media is suitable for Instagram.

If you feel afraid of being ridiculed:
Stop being afraid, as long as you create anything, and are honest about it 99% of people will just appreciate the fact that you're doing something creative even if they don't like what you made specifically.

That said you can also create an anonymous account, that way you can't even be called out by people you know. (But if you're actually proud of something, you also can't share it with the people you care about, which is actually kinda shitty)

If you're afraid of not being recognized at all... why be? It's fun to create stuff, getting recognition for it is secondary, but posting what you made is minimal effort.

All that aside: if you just want an insta so you can point to something when people ask what your insta is: just post some photos of activities you did with friends or something, you only need a few photos and you can play the "but I don't really use it" card. If this is your goal for Instagram though, of course you're not gonna have fun with it, you're using it for all the wrong reasons.

If you have no friends or people that take pictures of you: don't worry, no one is gonna ask for your Instagram anyway.

In the end, it just comes down to not giving a fuck and doing whatever you want, Instagram is as fun or as shitty as you make it yourself. Follow people that make stuff you fuck with, look who they're following and find more cool accounts etc. Reach out to people, even if they're 90 steps better than you, post what you like. Have fun with it!
