Patrick Bateman might be kind of a vintage enthusiast, nowadays, taking inspiration from the 1980s, and probably also a frequent listener of modern synthwave music, stuff that resembles the soundtrack of Drive and 1980s synth-pop, whether vocal or instrumental, as well as classic rock and roll and 1980s rock, including Huey Lewis and the News. In the book and film, he seems to really like the types of clothes he wears, even if he buys stuff because of brand prestige and fashion. I can't imagine modern Patrick looking too differently; maybe with just a slightly shorter haircut and slimmer clothing, especially narrower lapeled suits. In the movie, his ties are already slightly narrow by recent business standards, but he would probably end up preferring somewhat thinner ties than those, to better express the recent narrow fashion.

-Its early season was a little too new wave for my tastes, but when Black Museum came out in 2017, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole episode has a clear, crisp image, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the story a big boost. It's been compared to The Twillight Zone, but I think Black Mirror has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor.

-Yes it is! In 2016, Black Mirror released this, Season 3, their most accomplished one. I think their undisputed masterpiece is San Junipero, an episode so catchy, most people probably don't listen to the implications. But they should, because it's not just about the pleasures of conformity, and the meaning of life, it's also a personal statement about the show itself.

Did you people even watch the fucking movie? I've read the book too, which just expands on it. Patrick Bateman just wants to fit in. He would dress like whatever a typical wall street suits dresses like and do whatever the typical wall street suit does. It would probably be pretty similar.

FYI, in the book anytime a character is introduced, Bateman lists of the names of the brands of all the clothing they are wearing. The author Brett Easton Ellison said that if you knew enough about fashion, all the outfits were bizarre combinations of clothing that would look like clown suits, but actually sound like fancy outfits when read out.

The Huey Lewis and the News rant is actually an entire self contained chapter later in the book that appears out of nowhere. It is amazing. It's literally an entire chapter. I think it was at least 15 minutes long in the audio book.
