I'm looking at these, and yeah they look 2000s, especially with the tops they are wearing. But women just wearing jeans in general, is that 2000s? That sounds stupid but when I think about it, I can't remember the last time I saw women not wearing yoga pants or some equally lazy shit. I rarely see girls that are "put together" in public. Also this is going off on a rant so i'm gonna throw it in there, barely related, but I fucking hate seeing women wearing these cheap ugly scarf things, reminds me of muslims.

WHY IS IT THAT MOST THREADS REGARDING OUGHTIES FASHION FOCUS DOMINANTLY ON “EMO”, AND “POP PUNK”, SUBSTYLES, WHICH TEND TOWARD THE LATTER PHASE OF THE CLASSIC MILLENNIAL PERIOD? emo grew out of the hardcore/post hardcore scene of washington dc, the term emo comes from "emotional hardcore" emo was pioneered by bands like rites of spring and embrace both of whom were mid 80s emotional hardcore bands. its as millenial a style as you're likely to have seeing as its been relevant for most of its existence and has 4 distinct waves of bands

>> No.13796445

Emo revival happened around 2003 with new and upcoming bands at the time like Fall Out boy and My Chemical Romance and already well established band Jimmy Eat World. The emo revival lasted roughly from 2003 to 2007. Then emo broke off into scene music.

that doesn't contradict what i said at all,3rd wave emo is still emo just like 1st and 2nd wave and 4thand while the style of dress changed with the music it doesn't make a sunny day real estate fan any more or less emo than a twiabp fan or a mcr fan or a jimmy eat world fan btw early 00s emo isnt the only emo revival

Jesus, the directions you people are going in... there wasn't generally 1 style at this time and clothing was separated by musical genres just as it is now.

Pop punk/skater look was very much in the late 90's/early 2000's taking over the earlier grunge movement in the alternative music world. Movies such as American pie played on this genre.

It ran alongside Nu-metal acts around the same time, LImp Bizkit, KoRn, Coal Chamber, papa Roach and so on.

Those genres were also in arguments over the boyband era also running at this time. BSB are fags, OK.

Emo certainly was around in the very early 2000's, not 2007+ as has been suggested here. That's way too late for its rise. Remember myspace was around 2003.

Goth was also pretty popular during 2000 due to things such as Buffy and whole Vampire movie related things (Vampire high too) The Wicca movement reached its peak popularity at this time too also due to Buffy and Willow.

This aesthetic:

>>13793707

Is from the Dance/Euro dance movement of the late 90's to early 2000's. Think Darude - Sandstorm of course.

All those were musical genre inspired though and most normies just wore jeans and a t shirt or shirt.

Late 30's here who was part of most of these scenes, the bands, tours, clubs and shitty dial-up internet.

At least I am not bald yet, thank god.
