I used to be a renegade, I used to fool around
But I couldn't take the punishment, and had to settle down
Now I'm playing it real straight, and yes I cut my hair
You might think I'm crazy, but I don't even care
'Cause I can tell what's going on
It's hip to be square
It's hip to be square
I like my bands in business suits, I watch them on TV
I'm working out 'most everyday and watching what I eat
They tell me that it's good for me, but I don't even care
I know that it's crazy
I know that it's nowhere
But there is no denying that
It's hip to be square
It's hip to be square
It's hip to be square
It's hip to be square
It's not too hard to figure out
you see it everyday
And those that were the farthest out have gone the other way
You see them on the freeway
It don't look like a lot of fun
But don't you try to fight it
And an idea who's time has come
Don't tell me that I'm crazy
Don't tell me I'm nowhere
Take it from me
It's hip to be square
It's hip to be square
It's hip to be square
It's hip to be square

Stylish, but to me it doesn't look like something I'd like to live in. Very small space to walk, the desk looks like it's uncomfortable to use. Maybe that's just taste

I agree. The coffee table should be the center in most cases, I think, unless there's a big window with a view. The most /fa/ home doesn't have a tv.

>>13801532
I'd mount a bookshelf on the wall and put a couple pieces of tasteful art up. You did well choosing mostly white, but it looks too sterile if there's nothing to contrast with it. Some small simple art.

I've not got a huge amount of choice with where I live, however I really like the desk and there is more space at the side of the bed where the picture was taken.

>>13802292
I think we have the same ikea malm bed, if so you should buy the bed storage boxes which slide under the bed, if you get 4 it gives you a lot of storage space.

I don't like how you lay all your stuff out on the white table in the left corner of the picture, feels like that table doesn't need to be there. Not a fan of the two dark tables next to the bed either as it doesn't go with the white and wood furniture so I think you could get rid of those. Same with the bed sheets, something lighter or just white would be more suitable and help brighten the room up.

I think once you clear the tops of the wardrobe and the wood cabinets on the right you could put some plants like ivy and bamboo on them instead of random junk. I would also get a mirror, a simple shoe rack and a new desk chair. I think your room has a lot of potential.

What's with the people posting all these stupid pictures where the house is making everything look good? What is the point, what inspiration do you gain from that? You probably won't ever get to live in such a designer house.

I have never met an interior designer who wasn't a fucking ditzy moron. And it's a totally oversaturated job market, lots of people go into it but there's not a lot of people hiring interior designers, people like to decorate their homes themselves as a rule. Lots of interior designers end up switching majors or going back for a different degree in a related feild later on.

Between the two, architecture is better because you can still do a lot of interior design, there's better job opportunities, you learn more practical skills etc.
It's still very competitive though, and very challenging to be a good architect. Probably 90% of architects end up doing really plain work, or playing a supporting role to a bigger name architect.

There are a lot of other lesser known design and architectural fields to though. Look around a bit more before you make any decisions.

>I have never met an interior designer who wasn't a fucking ditzy moron.
I definitely believe that. I never watch interior design shows on television because I can never stand the designer, who is always either a nasally Stacy or an obnoxiously gay guy wearing more hair product than what's in my entire bathroom cabinet.
And yes, a lot of those designers seem to be focused on making homes just more attractive, while I'd rather make them more utilitarian and waste-free. Designing a room myself isn't even extremely important to me; I'd be happy just showing someone how to make better use of a small space. Looking at personal room threads on here makes me physically cringe sometimes because of the layouts of furniture alone. So yeah, I'd be happy to look for other related fields.
