Same shit normal cyberpunk characters wear:

BIKER GEAR

WEIRD HAIRCUT

COOL SUNGLASSES

that's the core of it right there. So called "techwear" bullshit isn't representative of cyberpunk specifically, it's more of a general-purpose kitchen sink futuristic thing.

You can add some futuristic gizmos to your fit but the basis of it should be: Jacket with broad shoulders (not an autistic parka), boots, weird haircut, weird sunglasses.

I think I'd also generally associate worn-out/distressed clothing that take cues from military might work. At least I can imagine characters of the more popular Cyberpunk stories wearing stuff like that (like Count Zero's Bobby Newmark).

To me the materials used look repurposed, in a "the streets took it and modified it to protect against a hostile environment" kind of way. Maybe "-punk" was the wrong word and gritty fits better? I don't know. Just looked kina futuristic without looking clean and polished (like stuff you might find in a lunacore outfit) to my eye.

ALL OF YOU NEED TO MAKE A CLEAR DISTINCTION BETWEEN

On the one hand:

FITS THAT A CYBERPUNK WOULD WEAR

and on the other hand:

FITS THAT SOME CHARACTERS IN A CYBERPUNK SETTING WOULD WEAR

the former is much cooler of course, but a bit harder to pull off

>>13760674
Well that's one aspect of it but the thing is, keeping everything in a shoulder bag IS keeping it all within arm's reach. So by that standard, the average hobo is already cyberpunk.

>> No.13760717

the key is to be cool already. if you're cool and you show up to a social event with a cyber punk jacket no one will talk shit.. in fact, they'll compliment you and look to emulate you. on the other hand, if you don't have that kind of social standing, you had better be pretty attractive.

You can go really deep into techwear as long as you dont go too extreme and dont use leather otherwise it gets weird. You can really only pull this off usually in major cities and urban environments that are pretty up to date. Wearing techwear in the suburbs of idaho or a small town of texas will just make you look a lot like a city guy out of place.

personally i don't like this style because it uses primarily synthetic materials (personal dislike), and the clothes usually favor functionality over fitting well and being flattering. mostly i just am not into the way that it looks and i don't feel that we live in a society that is fucked up and futuristic enough to dress like a video game character.

I think cyberpunk staples just refers to the costumes in cyberpunk films and media. So cyberpunk as a style is never going to be authentic and it will always just be either straight cosplay or watered down cosplay worn as a homage or in reference to whatever costume it is based off.
