Almost bought a patrolman polizei leather jacket last winter at a military surpluss shop.

I used to have one I got from Keep Shooting for 9 bucks back when I was in highschool and they where less popular. I was about 6'3 and 160-170 pounds but the large only fit a little baggy (which was what I liked back then) but man that thing was well made. That's the lead time the manufacturer quoted us. From personal experience my guess is the following.

>8 weeks to mill and dye the fabric (this is standard)
>1-2 weeks shipping fabric to sewing plant
>2-3 weeks sewing/manufacturing
>1-2 weeks shipping finished goods from sewing

Then it has to ship to us in the US, clear customs and be sorted, repacked and shipped to you.

Also most manufacturers have a production schedule that precludes just starting on something right away---downtime is wasted capital, so the lines are always at capacity with at least a month booked in advance (usually more.)

The estimate on the site is conservative as well---we want to leave a little extra time for any unexpected delays. Better to ship earlier than expected than later.

When you factor in the time it's going to take a small operation (such as his) to go out and source the quantity needed to sell in bulk online, screen for quality, etc. and still make it profitable, 50 sounds about right.
