Lunar core had a more solid identity like two years ago.
The General idea used to be a look based on the Alien franchise's visuals.
However over the course of many threads we started to see people get lazy and not fully contribute to the look leading to an eventual dilution of what Lunarcore was into "vaguely futuristic".

An example of this is textures.
Early lunarcore had an emphasis on the textures of fabrics and such, this is really important to capture the utilitarian side of the aesthetic.
Clothing meant for space wouldn't be made of cotton fabric most of the time, if you look at sci-fi media there are lots of textures and patterns on clothing that are completely ignored by most people interested Lunarcore.
You also have to choose between variables like water-proofed or waxed fabrics, fireproof fabrics, heavy and light fabrics, etc.
Ripstock fabric is a great example and you can look at other military garments to get a fair idea.
Just taking the care to choose the right kind of fabrics and patterns can make a fit look and be more practical than just seeming like a poor man's lunarcore attempt.

I'm dedicated to lunarcore and on my budget I have a hard time finding good textured clothing I know it would improve a lot of my fits. I love the quilted miltary parka liners, ribbed sweatshirts and mesh t shirts I've got one that's in my top three shirts right now. Even something as simple as the cuffs of a long sleeve being ribbed adds so so much.

The one thing I'm doing well on right now is fabrics and materials. I've been filitering out basic cotton stuff and while I still wear a lot of 100% cotton stuff I've got an equal collection of solid tech pieces. Waterproof sweatshirts, fleece, nylon backpack, waterproof and nylon hats, quick drying mesh shirts, waterproof shoes, etc. Its been one of the most enjoyable parts about clothing for me.

This, above all else. Space travel has a background in military, backed with government contractors. Clothing is all mission oriented, focusing on performance and practicality. Design is basically milspec, minus the camo shit. It looks cool because of that. It's obviously different, avoiding "fashion" altogether in pursuit of it's primary purpose. Keeping mission personnel alive.
Too many "lunar-core" fits look like some contract special ops operator got lost and wandered in from Afghanistan or somewhere.

Lunarcore generally uses cargo pants that are tapered to fit baggy on top and more snug as you reach the a ankle,this can be done easily with a sewing machine and some YouTube videos. Alternatively you can usually just find tapered cargo pants. There is also the tailor option I've never done this but hear it is inexpensive.

This is good advice look for pants with qualities such as waterproof, water repellent, rip stop, quick drying, straps, velcro, etc. Hella pockets is also good advice.
