Got my decant of Narciso Rodriguez for Him EdT, all this crap online about wet concrete and greenness is bullshit (just like the BS about Encre Noire).

To me it's a synthetic cloying sweet patchouli musky amber mess. If Kurkdiarab was going for 80's vibe he hit the nail on the head. It smells like a lipsticky generic scent of a the women's section of your local department store. That's the best way I can describe it.

All right. What you do is put your Aventus away for 90 days to six months, ignoring it completely. Then you unearth the bottle, wear it for a day, return to /frag/, and apologize.

Creed has this thing where brand new bottles sometimes have zero performance and take time to mature. It's like they skip the factory masceration process completely and expect that the perfume will mature in bottle, hopefully prior to retail sale. Only it doesn't, and the first several uses out of a newly copped Creed bottle are frequently disappointing. They always improve over time, and the more air you can get into the bottle to help get the process rolling, the better. If you have a travel sprayer, putting a few mL into it is a good idea.

Before you dismiss this as pseudo bro-science /frag/ superstition, I'm >>13681157 and I've observed this phenomenon with my personal bottles of Millesime Imperial, Aventus (twice), and a 500mL flacon of Royal Oud.
I also believe that some portion of the Aventus batch faggotry can be attributed to people comparing flacons of differing ages. Point in case: I used half of a 120 mL Aventus tester, then gifted it to my father as I had a backup bottle. On opening the backup, I was immediately disappointed; there was no fruit, way too much birch, and it lacked the day long performance of my original bottle. I assumed I had fallen victim the Creed batch goblins and ignored my Aventus for most of the year. Long story short (too late) it now smells very close the bottle at my dad's place.

Other bottles that have demonstrated similar behavior: Bleu de Chanel, Bleu de Chanel EdP, Rasasi Faqat lil Rijal, CK Eternity Aqua, my second (large) bottle of Dior Sauvage EdT, and Bond Gramercy Park.

Thinking of spending a little extra for Terre d'Hermes parfum. Anyone here have experience with it?

I adore it. If you like vetiver scents, you should try it. I absolutely love it, but I'm not mature enough to wear it without cringe. I think this is the perfect scent for a classy middle aged fit guy in a winter coat. Probably one of the best scents out there, but very few people can pull it off convincingly.

Apart from finding the whole idea of a gendered scent silly ("fragrances don't have genitals") I find unisex frags to be way more interesting. It's a little pricey but it's a 9/10 to me. I figure for the price of two designer frags that I may think are "pretty good" with ok performance I can buy one niche frag that is outstanding with beast performance. Herod is also 4.2oz vs the usual 3.4oz you get with designer so it's an even better deal. Not saying you should blind buy, but if you sample it and like it, don't talk yourself out of a bottle because of the cost.

It smells like the 2010s men's fragrances greatest hits, sweet spicy vanilla with a gourmand vibe, which might sound boring but its blended so damn well it makes me smile. This is definitely an Aventus 2.0 in terms of compliment potential.

longevity is how long it takes before the scent disappears or becomes a skin scent. so you could say a frag has a longevity of an hour or a longevity of 12 hours. you can have a fragrance that has a day-long longevity that does not project, you could also have a frag that projects across the room but evaporates in an hour. different things

i honestly love Viking despite the middling reception it got. it smells like the middle-ground between two of my all-time favorite fragrances: Amouage Memoir Man and Frederic Malle Geranium Pour Monsieur. aromatic and grassy, not like a freshly mown lawn/garden but the dry scent of tall wild grass, with an undercurrent of mint that doesn't come across as artificial or musty like some mint (*cough*Colonia Club*cough*, tho fwiw i do like Colonia Club after an hour or two)

EROLFA isn't praised often either, but i find it's dirty aquatic vibe much more interesting than their other summer favorites the sweet mojito or Virgin Island Water and whatever salty fruit salad thing MiIlesime Imperiale is going for. the worst thing you can say EROLFA is that it can sorta bring to mind Tom Selleck circa Magnum P.I., chest hairs billowing out of a Hawaiian print shirt or just a guy on a speed boat, i.e., decidedly 80s/90s masculine but not classy/classically so, but if you can over look that (or if you like the sound of that), it's definitely worth a sample

Creed Himalaya is a great citrus you could get away with year-round. there's an cool sharpness+grapefruit to it for warm months but it's also powdery and has weight to it for late autumn temps

Sauvage is super heavy in ambroxan which is supposed to last very long so it might be that. Molecule 02 is supposed to be only ambroxan but I have never tried it. Maybe that's what you're looking for. I dont think sauvage smells like laundry though.
