I was talking watches with a family friend who is an older guy and we were talking about his "coke" red and black gmt master.
Anyway I guess I was showing interest in Rolex (mainly because he was wearing one) and he says to me.. "heh I'll get to one, I know a guy (Rolex dealer who he's friends with) and I'll send you one." I just can't buy modern watches anymore, I have enough wrist shitters as it is and buying a modern watch has no meaning to me. I see those stores as just storage, if I want that particular watch, I can just fucking buy it on the spot and be done with it, because of this some of the meaning is lost, there is no hunt.

When I buy vintage watches, the watch I buy is already rare and I have had to scout that particular timepiece for some time, it feels more like actual collecting and a hobby than just buying crap you like.
