Need some advice..

I was talking watches with a family friend who is an older guy and we were talking about his "coke" red and black gmt master.
Anyway I guess I was showing interest in Rolex (mainly because he was wearing one) and he says to me.. "heh I'll get to one, I know a guy (Rolex dealer who he's friends with) and I'll send you one." "I'll take you into the vault and you can choose one you like, and I'll send it. We'll talk before you leave. (currently on vacation)"

Now, I've seen this guy a couple times since then and he hasn't mentioned anything like that since. That's quite a bold statement to make to somebody, and honestly idk if he was fucking with me or not. How should I bring it up to him, if at all. Should I just wait it out and see what happens?

Seiko I'd disagree completely for under a grand being the best value, I don't even think they are best under 500 anymore (when the sarbs weren't discontinued, sure, now? nah). They hate sapphire, the movements are never what they should be for the price points, QC issues, etc. I think microbrands in general, orient star, hamilton, etc. kill them.

The luch factory in Belarus wanted to make a quartz watch but Moscow was unwilling to commit much in the way of funding to developing a quartz movement. So the designers there decided to retrofit the luch 3045 into a quartz movement that they called the 3055. Basically, a quartz timing package is used to time when electromagnets are activated, which push the balance back and forth (even though there is a hairspring, the hairspring is not used for timing regulation). After that it works like any other hairspring-regulated electric watch; the rest of the geartrain is unchanged. Quite a few manufacturers did this, most prominently timex. Bulova also did something similar with their accuquartz, which was a retrofitted accutron 218.

What do you guys think about having an all vintage collection and maybe a single modern beater shitter to compliment it?

I just can't buy modern watches anymore, I have enough wrist shitters as it is and buying a modern watch has no meaning to me. I see those stores as just storage, if I want that particular watch, I can just fucking buy it on the spot and be done with it, because of this some of the meaning is lost, there is no hunt.

When I buy vintage watches, the watch I buy is already rare and I have had to scout that particular timepiece for some time, it feels more like actual collecting and a hobby than just buying crap you like.

New watch day boys! Even better in the flesh.
Now to try to resize the bracelet which looks like an absolute pig of a task.

Fuck I hate normie customers and their shitter watches. Some dumb cunt left three fashion shitters for a battery change and all three had some kind of problem. I struggled with them for an hour and managed to make two out of three work. Fucking wasted time, and the stupid pig probably thinks it's my fault.

I hate working on Saturday, it's the day all these retards come out of the woodworks with their fucking garbage! Today so far 90% of the watches were shitters.

Also today is heirloom day. Took out pep-pep's Raketa for a spin.

Any time I wear a suit which isn't very often, or sometimes if I have a presentation or something at work (my workplace is very casual)
>Geneve Dynamic
Don't wear it very often because it needs servicing and I've just been too lazy to get that done. It's a nice casual watch, though.

My everyday watch for pretty much everything. I wear it probably 80% of the time.

Alternate with the Explorer sometimes to mix it up. It's also my beater if I'm going to get my hands dirty or go to the beach or something.
