22/m. I haven't bought new clothes in over 3 years.I'm going to the mall with a friend in a few days to buy a new wardrobe.
$1000 budget.
What stores should I hit up?

>> No.13629125

I used to work at that mall.

Made me realize that everyone should work retail once in their life because customers are barbarians.

>> No.13629138

I find good stuff at Nordstrom's Rack. Money goes far there if you know what you're looking for.

avoid going to needless markups (neiman marcus)

>> No.13630500

Alright first and foremost here are the things you should DO :

>Build a "basic" wardrobe, not necessarily worth $1000
This include crewneck tees in black, white and maybe grey if you like it. Crewneck sweater and Hoodie in black and/or grey. A pair of light blue and black jeans that fit correctly (thin ? go for skinny. built ? slim). Plus some outerwear : denim jacket, bomber, parka... for this kinda stuff, first you can look at some infographics that are often posted here, but the best store is UNIQLO.

Also buy some low white sneakers.

>Only once you have a basic wardrobe and understand how it works, and once you've found your kind of style, you can start buying more specific, expensive and "statement" pieces.

Here are my advices, if you want exactly what I'd buy in your situation, just tell me and I'll do a detailed list.

Fuck it i'm doing it anyways, this got me wishing I was just starting to get into fashion. Here's what I'd get, everything at Uniqlo. Also keep in mind that this is all in black, grey, and white because this kind of minimalist style is the one I prefer, and I think it is the best one if you wanna do a makeover.

>Tee Shirts
Supima 2-pack in Grey, Black, and White
Crewneck, short sleeves

>Shirt
Oxford Slim-Fit in White, without pocket

>Sweatshirts
Crewneck sweaters in Black and Light Grey
Hoodies in Black and Light Grey

>Pants
Ultra-stretch Skinny Jeans in Black (as I said, get those if you're thin. Else, just get the slims and make sure they are well fitting)
Ankle Pants in Black
Slim Fit Wool Pants in Dark Grey

>Jacket
Blocktech Parka in Black or Green if you want something that isn't Black, Grey or White.

Once you're done with this, you should be under $450. You can wait for the Uniqlo U Collection to drop, it's a collection made in collaboration with french designer Christophe Lemaire. From this collection you can get some sweaters with more interesting necks, some heavier shirts if you like them, or the alternative to the Blocktech parka.

Avoid getting your footwear from Uniqlo. You can get some accessories though, scarves and underwear (Airism) are great.

>Shoes
A pair of Black Boots, like Dr Martens 1460 Mono
A pair of Black Derbies, like Dr Martens 1461 Mono
A pair of White Sneakers. Common Project Achille Low, or if you don't want to pay the price, Adidas Rod Laver or Kent Wang shoes are good alternatives.

Once you have everything, you can start getting "wilder" with your next purchases but after following these directions you should be set for a long time.

>Colors that will go well with your new minimal wardrobe
Along with Black, Grey, and White, try muted colors, earth tones.. Sand, Dark Green, Cream...

>Other shops to consider
If you're done with Uniqlo after this shopping, be sure to check out COS, they have great things aswell

Literally fuck off back to plebbit with this try hard, absolutely pure shit post, and I mean that unironically. Here have a muh downvote.

OP mate just have a look at what you think you might like, try it on, and if you immediately like it then just buy it. If you're not sure but you're thinking 'oh but that loser from the 4derp told me to buy all this stuff so I should' then just stop thinking that actually. Never buy anything because someone told you to, have your own taste and style, buy stuff that you like, never go clothes shopping thinking you're going to buy a whole wardrobe - total waste of money. You build a wardrobe by just buying things you like here and there and then putting them all together, not by having a shopping list of shit to buy.

Realistically you're not going to find that much stuff that you like, so don't expect to spend all of that money. Even if you just buy a t-shirt and wear it everyday that's cool.

>> No.13632607

>>13632337
Yeah the best way of having pieces that don't go well together and just having a certain amount of uncohesive outfits is to follow your advice

Why are you getting all assblasted about reddit, this kind of " capsule wardrobe " has been around 4chan as infographics for way longer than they have been on reddit. According to me, building some basic thing at first is the best way to evolve towards what you really want to look like

>> No.13632626

>>13632607
lol when you have a style most of your clothes will come together fine anyway. If you're going to shop at uniqlo everything is going to fit with everything else anyway. I'm sorry mate but your idea is a quick ticket to having no style. I bet you where uniqlo in an unironic way.

>> No.13632826

>wearing Uniqlo ironically
Sorry I didn't notice you were retarded

Also do we just assume this guy got a style ? Because if you read his demand it's clear that he is new to fashion, that's why he's asking advices about a wardrobe makeover, hence the need of having clothes that can be worn together in any combination

>> No.13632972

>>13630500
>>13630643
Follow this guys advice. The pieces he suggests are a solid basis for pretty much every style. When you've got your basis you can slowly try to evolve your style into the one you like. The 'slowly' part is very important here. Judging by the fact that you're asking 4chan for fashion advice, you haven't decided on a style yet. And even if you have chances are your preference might change as you get more into fashion.
Bottom line is buying a whole wardrobe in one go is a good way to lose your money, unless you're buying the basics.

>> No.13633179

spend half of that on decent basics, and then hold out for finding peices you really love as you find them over time. if you see something you only kind of like, put it back. it sucks to buy an expensive item becuase its sort of what you want, only to find exactly what you want later. don't spend money on shit you aren't absolutely gonna wear.

This is pretty unfortunate, following
>>13630500
>>13630643
you could have gotten similar clothes of higher or equal quality for less money. Another issue is that waist size-- you should get in shape before you invest 1000 dollars into a wardrobe that might no longer fit. Also why do you need so many belts? Two identical brown belts for what reason?

>>13632337
Not saying what your recommend is strictly incorrect, but you sure come off as clueless.

>> No.13635116

>>13633953
I didnt buy two identical brown belts. I also just realized that i meant to put that i now have two black belts in my wardrobe - not brown. I have an old black belt thats pretty beat up.
I am pretty thin, but genetics fucked me with wide hips.
There was no uniqlo in the small mall i went to. I could have spent less if I bought everything from h&m, but i didnt do that.

this is kind of true but also common sense. if you don't like low white sneakers or if you hate button downs, obviously don't spend money on them. but if you're indifferent then it's something to think about at least
