i got a haircut last week and the stylist cut my hair into a blunt bob that's way too short, above my chin, and i don't have bangs so i look like lord farquaad.

Yes, I have this hairstyle and I actually like it but I looove short bobs, they look cute and elegant at the same time. On the other hand, my hair stylist told me to grow my hair because it's thick and healthy and those features will be more visible on slightly longer hair.
BTW I know my bangs is too long but I'll have it trimmed soon.

Full bangs, length between eyebrows and irises. Side hair needs volume. Towel on head after shower, hairdryer+comb till hair is puffy. Once in place, use hairspray. Sides could cover the face a bit. Maybe lose a bit of weight, too. Then you are set.

I've been wondering about how to dry hair off after shower. Does just placing the towel on your head do much of anything if it's just sitting there? Girls with longer hair that I've been with usually wrung out their hair after showering, then used a towel on head for half an hour. On other occasions, they used the towel right after showering and then proceeded to style their stuff.

As for me, I blowdry my hair right after shower into the shape I want, use product, blowdry some more, finish with product, spray stuff and be done with it. Some people love to use some oily repair stuff in the shower, others might like a pre-styling-lotion to give the hair some texture. As far as I know, girls go for the former, dudes for the latter.

Third option: partially dry your hair with an old t-shirt.
Towels snag the hair and cause frizz, but air drying alone takes forever. Dry it off with something smooth and absorbent, like jersey (which is why old t-shirts are great) and then let it air dry from a point of wet but not dripping.
This method also lets you scrunch properly so your curls can take shape.
