Hey vintage Seiko nerds, what can you tell me about the 3802? This is the only movement pic I could find, supposedly this is a real fancy early quartz movement.

Looking for a watch as a gift for her. Around £250 budget (she's not that special). Hit me.

The 38 series is seiko's second quartz series, after the original 35. If I remember correctly, the 38 is the first quartz watch that used cmos chips to reduce battery consumption. The third digit refers to the "tier" of the movement. The 3883 "superior" (Japanese domestic)/"GFA" (export model) were the best and most carefully adjusted: the 3802 is the same base caliber but the least carefully adjusted.

I'm not a fan of that style crown but if it works for you go for it. you can get plenty of vintage omega dress watches in that style if you want something with more character to it

I think it looks fine but if you wear the bracelet loose like that then it does look a bit oversized. I feel like the hands on that watch are either you love it or you hate it.

The best way to do a search like this is to go on chrono24 and search for the brand either limited by price or alternatively bracketed by year (eg 1960-1975). If you see one you like you can do a little bit of research to make sure it's genuine first. This is not as intimidating as people make it sound. Honestly just make a post on WUS or the omega forums and ask for help. You might also consider having the watch serviced which would add a few hundred to the price. Some ads will be for recently serviced watches and some might run fine without a tuneup. It will be your call. Here's an example search to get you started.

Update. If you google seiko presage sunburst dial power reserve you can see that the model name is cocktail time. Could be one of several refs, most likely SARY081 or SSA343J1
