Mate. I took the gold one apart and it seemed like the battery was a tad loose, since there was a lot of carton placed between the battery and the 'hatch' to hold it in place. I put some more paper in it, maybe it will work.

Yes perhaps, but there is something to be added to the price and value of a watch if you have a bauhaus schooled architect doing the design himself, like the Max Bill collection from Junghans. Instead you pay extra for Sternglas for no particular good reason. Why is Sternglas more pricy than a Daniel Wellington? Maybe they think the german brand alone is worth more money, but I for one would at least like some Bauhaus schooled designer be the man behind the watch if I pay those prices.

http://watchesbysjx.com/2018/07/breaking-news-swatch-group-to-leave-baselworld-fair-in-2019.html

>Switzerland’s biggest watch and jewellery fair will see its biggest exhibitor depart next year, according toNZZ am Sonntag, the weekend edition of Swiss newspaperNeue Zürcher Zeitung.

>Swatch Group chief executive Nick Hayek told the paper Baselworld was no longer relevant or useful, given that the watch business has become“more transparent, faster-paced and more spontaneous”. Mr Hayek was pointed in his criticism of the fair, saying “We are not here to amortise theexpensive buildingsby Herzog & de Meuron”, a reference to the Basel exhibition complex designed by the noted Swiss architect, which opened in 2013.

>With 18 brands in its stable, including heavyweights like Omega, Longinesand Tissot, the Swatch Group has the largest exhibition budget amongst Baselworld exhibitors, totalling some SFr50m, which includestravel and accommodation. The loss of Swatch will be a blow to Baselworld, the most profitable division of organiser MCH Group, which also owns the Art Basel franchise. Already in 2018 the number go exhibitors at Baselworld halved to 650, with many citingthe high costs and poor infrastructure of the event.

Also be aware you should expect to need to have any vintage mechanical watch you buy serviced by an independent watchmaker.

Not that I've found. I've used London Jewelers downtown for service from time to time, aside from that I've used watchmakers in Santa Barbara and Toronto. London Jewelers is what you'd expect from a mall jeweler; they send it out for service, they're fairly expensive, they do middling work, you don't talk to the watchmaker. I'd like to find a good independent watchmaker in NYC but haven't had the time to do so.

I'm about to spend 10€ (about 12$ for the fatties) on this classic.
UNLESS... you can name me a watch that's debatably superior in style and/or efficiency in the same price range.
