Are these worth the investment? Any better models I should check out? I heard you could get blades for around 0.10 cents somewhere and I wanted to know where before I make the actual purpose.

Baili is great option for a beginner. I have the one in the picture and it is great. Has a nice weight to it and easy to use. One of the best deal for razors is the 100 blades for $9 Astra blades on amazon. They are good for beginners as they aren't so aggressive and less likely to cut you. It is good buy.

didnt read your post but i recommend you try out something super cheap before dumping a lot of money into safety razors. if after some time and practice you still get razor burn and some cuts then forget about it
maybe i just never mastered how to shave with these but try something cheap before you "invest" in more expensive stuff. im really thinking about going back to cartridges

They're a nice way to ritualise shaving and make it a good slow process of self-grooming. After the initial investment they can start to be cheaper than the Gillette Mach 4 nonsense. You'll want to get a nice badger hair brush and some decent soap. Don't get invested in the reddit tier consumerism that surrounds this stuff either. Spend a decent amount of money on a nicely weighted well crafted safety razor and keep it for the rest of your life so that you can pass it down at some point.

its pretty relaxing to shave with a safety razor in the morning. I'm glad I switched, its worth the extra time.

don't buy a DE and brush, waste of time and money. I know, I've made that mistake.
If you want:
less irritation and razor burn by far
less effort
less prep
less clean up after
most hygienic
and arguably the closest shave.

Get a fog free mirror travel mirror and shave in a hot steamy shower with a cheap razor like a blue 2 and whatever cream you want. Just let the steam and water soften the stubble for 3/4 minutes first (you could wash your hair while waiting).

I've been using one like this for years. it's great, cheap blades, nice shave ( JUST BE CAREFUL! Don't put pressure on the blade, just drag it slowly and make sure you let the foam or gel do its work t osoften the hair first)

>> No.13409472

Just buy the cheap ones at Walmart. They're so mild you literally cannot cut yourself on accident

Teaches bad habits but who cares just cut hair not parts for rocket ships

Who's going to want to use some old fart's ancient piece of crap by the time he dies in the year 2070, or some shit? Even the high end stuff isn't so expensive that his kids wouldn't easily be able to buy something of similar quality on their own if they were into safety razors.

Those disposable razors get clogged quickly for me and once they're blocked up you can't really do anything about it. I tried shaving with a new mach 5 blade at the weekend and it took 20 minutes of hard work to get through. That was immediately after a shower when the hair and skin should have been soft.

this exactly
most people think the shaving cream only acts as a lube or something, it doesn't.
you should let it sit for 3-5 minutes (until it starts tingling on your skin a little) so the alkalinity can do it's job and soften the hairs.

I have steam room facility and this is my DE prep. I have pale skin and dark hair, so I end up with design stubble like Don draper or Vincent Chase.

Yeah these razors are a decent buy to save money, but the extra shit like brushes and lather are consumerist garbage, just use water like a normal adult.
