Because making high quality things is expensive? I would assume making high quality fast fashion wouldn't work because if a trend changes or dies you're stuck with a bunch of expensive product no one wants.

No, that's not expensive. What's expensive is the marketing. That's why reps are cheap, cause they steal some other company's marketing.

Because fast fashion companies (ie. H&M and Zara) work with MASSIVE profit margins. We're talking 30 cents for a skirt that sells at $40, or 1 dollar jeans. Many chinese sell high quality replicas on taobao and wechat, but they wouldn't be able to sell them at the absolutely exploitative prices and amounts the companies demand.

Basically fast fashion likes to cut corners and settle for "good enough" to maximize profits.

People mostly agree that koreans make the best reps.
Part of replicas is the market is saturated with people who like the design because it is a famed designer piece.
This drastically reduces the cost because all their product is being sold.
If they were to make fast fashion clothing, they would have a lot more dead stock.
There is also shipping fees. Shipping from China to US might cost you an 40-60usd. There has to be a very high cost product to allow this margin of profit.
No one is going to buy a "superior" 30$ tee to beat our 60$ tees because you end up spending just that or more in shipping.
