It really depends on why you're getting them. If you're actually going in the field with the old Nike SFB's, they will fall apart on you (the 2 newest generations are a lot better). Virtually everything made by Danner is top quality, and the Tachyons were really popular at my old unit.

All that said, I prefer more classical looking combat boots, especially when wearing civis. Unfortunetly I always avoid wearing bloused boots with civis, too much attention where I live. But I think the black Nike SFB's and the Jungle SFB's look pretty cool, when bloused or tucked at least. I'd say go for the SFB's.

I think it depends, really. The boots are nice, but I'm not sure I'd wear them with a suit when meeting with high profile types, unless you're very familiar with them. An Oxford shoe is, generally, a much safer bet. I'm not a huge fan of AE, but if you need a "safe" pair of formal shoes that are okay quality, then they're a good place to start. Now is a good time to buy some shoes from them since their Anniversary sale is going on now until the 26th. Scored off ebay for 150 usd. New. They retail for more I believe.
