I've been out of my 'I hate mainstream' stage but I still realize that the music industry is basically honed on selling what sell, which is why for the past decade you can't even sell a fucking Fall Out Boy to the masses in 2018.

The music industry isn't even "evil" in my eyes like a lot of virginal "I only listen to metal and limp wrist indie" types seem to believe, a lot of mainsteam music is good and fun (mainly the pop) but it's clear to see that the industry is in disarray and only knows how to sell cut rate versions of bigger pop stars and rapppers even if that artists will have a one year shelf life to being relegated to nothing but a niche internet fanbase.

There's pretty much an oversaturation of pop stars, trap rap, and whatever faceless formulaic rise and drop edm out there. Open up YouTube and see.
