I don't wear skirts because I can't sit nor stand comfortably in them, I always have to worry if I'm exposing myself, it's stressful and I hate it. Pants I can sit however I like without worry and it's much better for me. Pants are much more comfortable, much more practical (nobody bitches I don't shave my legs because they can't see them with pants, duh, meaning the time required to get ready and go drops considerably with pants compared to skirts), and they protect a lot more and objectively better from unwanted stares to cold to anything else. For me they're the superior product without doubt. That's why I don't wear skirts.

And its cold outside. Wearing long ones (other than maxi dresses) is seen as dated. Jeans are comfy and allow max movement without worry of exposure. Most are made too short regardless. If you want to show off your legs yoga pants and tights work better. Good skirts are expensive like most womans clothing. Other woman will scorn you if you look more feminine/attractive than them, and for the highly social and emotional female population this is a problem. Lastly, western woman are fat, skinnyfat at best; skirts look horrible on them and they know it.

I love skirts, I would love to wear them more often but what I don't like is the attention it draws. It's seen either as too dress-y or too slutty where I am, the safe and comfy choice is maxi skirts. Now that I think about it I only wear skirts when my bf is with me.

If you go back about 150 years ago women wore dresses and if it was a skirt it reached their ankles. What people consider a skirt today would have been seen as obscene until recently. It wasn't until the 20th century that women wanted more mobility did they start wearing skirts, and now they want even more mobility so they wear yoga pants which have been criticized by feminists as objectifying women.
