All I wear are jeans and chinos. I'm increasingly coming to enjoy the look of slim cargo pants. Just how risky would it be to buy a pair? Could they easily be made to work if I've already got a pretty militaristic/earth-tone wardrobe?

the pants in your picture are pretty cringe. either commit to proper cargo pants or not. these just look like normal slim jeans.

getting used to wearing proper cargo pants takes around 1 hour. look for jogging pants-style ones. stick to black, this is pretty important. they work with mostly anything if you go all black.
