Little thread starter here, just because I'm tired of seeing the constant "Is this effay?"

Fashion might actually be dying very soon. And no I'm not talking about how I hate the new trends that are coming around.

Now that grailed and the whole internet shopping generation has come to the forefront, everything is based on first impressions. Rappers are being invited to the most exclusive runways just because their stylist put them in a few nice clothes. And with the new generation of youth coming into the scene, it's not about finding a brand that really relates to your characteristics anymore. PEOPLE ONLY CARE ABOUT HAVING A TSHIRT WITH A BETTER TAG THAN THE NEXT PERSON!

Retailers used to attend runway shows to watch the show carefully, then cash out on the whole collection after the show and youd see beautiful works of art in stores in the following weeks. Now, the only pieces that are purchased from the runways are tshirts, pants, and coats. None of the of the real extravagant art pieces that really show what the brand can do. And it's not the retailers fault. They know the only reason people buy things anymore is because of the brand.

These days, celebrities are invited to runways to watch the shows and take snapchats of the whole presentation just to put on their damn story.

There's no actually interest in fashion anymore. It's all for looks and popularity.

Maybe all of this is already well known by everyone at this point and I'll be torn to shreds by the shit eaters who parade around this board. But really, where is fashion going?

It's been like this for a few hundred years slow poke, very little people care about or even see fashion as art.

But I don't think it's all doom and gloom. Stuff changes, and this hasn't come about in an instant. In many ways the digital age has enhanced the ability to be fashionable and brought about a larger selection of, and cheaper, clothes.

I feel like there is more interest in fashion than ever before. Like 10 years ago fashion still was "for gays". You literally couldn't talk about fashion as a man without being put into a certain corner. This has completely changed. Also thanks to rappers, football players etc. dressing more peacock-y and outlandish. Womenswear has been quite stagnant, though.

There's more to it though, at least in my opinion. Trust me, I'm not trying to sound pretentious, but the public doesn't look into the creative background that goes into making a collection anymore. The inspiration, cuts, materials, and hardware are all things that used to be studied closely. Now all that people care about is wear vetements embroidered their brand name on the new clothes.

im sorry man but your views on fashion are those of an eager highschooler that just found out about fashion design a few months ago, the public never "looked into the creative background" it was always about status to the average joe, fashion is far from dead, its getting more relevant every year, it wont make it taken seriously by the public but the sales will go up, sadly all current events point towards an aproaching world war which sucks for all creative fields. just my 2p
