Get CPs or maybe even white slip on vans? I have a pair of all white Lacoste shoes you can find on amazon for around $50 and I love them to pieces, I hope this helps!!

I have very intense under eye circles and ive never been able to completely conceal them. That being said I always feel like my eyes are too dark / intense if I wear anything other than a brown mascara. I've always wanted to do pretty & natural looking brown eyeliner and eyeshadow but it always looks weird, any advice?

Have you tried using correctors? The Becca colour corrector in the Papaya shade would be perfect for under your eyes, you then follow through with foundation or concealer.

Yeah like I mentioned, the Becca colour correctors are great, silky and smooth without creating the look of another layer on your skin. I've only ever used the green shade for post acne marks tho. You only need to dab a tiny amount onto your finger and spread it under your eye then a natural concealer like the Glossier one should do it over the top.

Is foundation a meme?

I wear makeup from time to time, but I don't feel a need for foundation
It feels so unnecessary to apply primer, concealer, foundation, contour, highlight and powder on a daily basis?
Like sure, if you have really uneven skin, acne or whatever, I totally get it, but I feel like it's the kinda turned into a norm that everyone should wear that much makeup, which just feels stupid to me...

Am I just stupid or what?

>> No.12167310

Depends a little on where you're from I think, some places it is more normal than others. Like it's pretty common on this greasy cold island.

>> No.12167315

>>12167233
If you don't need it or want to wear it (or feel like you need it), then you don't have to. A lot of girls wear it because it helps make their skin "perfect". I think it's pretty useless a lot of the time for myself, but it depends on what your skin is like.

I'll definitely agree that all those products being the norm for everyday is pretty excessive, I think it's the fault of beauty bloggers and instagram girls. Contouring and highlighting everyday must suck.

>haven't seen any summer trends yet
Uh SS runway shows have been around since September. It is definitely possible to extrapolate what trends will trickle down to mainstream fashion. Based on most trend reports, expect normal doses of florals and feminine details like lace and ruffles, more yellow than usual (sometimes alongside orange and brown), a more saturated pink, metallics, micropleats, edgier cutouts than the last few seasons, a few different shoulder silhouettes, less denim, more leather, patchwork and some stuff that looks like it came out of a 1960s book about pop art and dressing for the space age.

>>12167233
A lot of girls don't wear foundation everyday. That said, a lot of girls who post on 4chan are just as contrarian as the guys who post here and think they're too good for makeup, when really they just don't know how to apply it. I'm not saying you fall into this category, but maybe you haven't found the right foundation or application method for you. Maybe mixing it 50/50 with your moisturizer might give you a better finish.

A lot of foundations have sunscreens or moisturizers in them. I tend to wear foundation when I feel like I need to feel "done". Other women do perceive your mastery of makeup as a measure of your understanding of the social code, whether or not you think you're a natural beauty or not. Not wearing makeup or only doing a half-face can come off as juvenile.

>>12168541
Acne only does good raws for girls if you're boxy and/or tall. Naked and Famous makes an affordable version that's cut well for a woman's body. Baldwin, Nudie, Railcar Fine Goods and Samurai probably round out the top ten, in terms of cut.

Actual question, are any females here actually trying to become more basic?

Growing up I was the unpopular, ugly, and weird girl (obsessed with dumb shit like anime) and while I have definitely outgrown all that now, interests in a lot of things that most people would consider "odd" still remain (games, tech, weird youtube vids). Didn't help that I went to art school and mingled with only weird pop culture obsessed people, I just want to get away from that.

When I visit home and I visit my girlfriends who all went to normal colleges and studied normal things like economy, which makes them well adjusted young women who I'm sure a lot of guys find attractive, I always try to keep up with them in terms of fashion, music and interests so I can feel more normal and a part of a group but I feel out of place doing that, like I'm not really real. It makes me bummed out, but going back to older habits and interests makes me even more bummed.

So yeah, in terms of fashion and life now I sort of want to be like the pretty girls on tumblr, or the vloggers on youtube. Basic and happy. I don't see basic as bad, I see it as people who are maybe living a little oblivious, but they're usually happy and live day by day.

Anyone else feel like this? Just don't want to be an unattractive loser girl.

>> No.12178945

>>12178894
Going "basic" won't make you attractive and not a loser, first of all.

Secondly, I'm not really sure if your goal is to get guys or for you to feel comfortable around your "basic" friends.

If it's trying to get guys, ok, dress basic, and I'm sure you can find some regular guy.

If it's trying to feel comfortable around friends, how you dress isn't going to effect it nearly as much as you think.

If you like how you are, you shouldn't change for anyone, friends or guys. You'll find a guy who likes games and tech and whatever else. From the vague info I have, it seems like your friends may just be different people from you, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. But you can always find friends more similar to yourself.

You can go ahead and dress basic but it seems like you think that'll make you happy, which isn't the case. You'll still have your interests and likes but you won't be able to express them.

Just my $0.02, let me know if I'm way off about something I assumed.

You should be friends with people that make you feel comfortable despite being different from them aesthetically or otherwise. If you feel like you have to change yourself to conform so you can fit in with the group you either have personal insecurity issues or they aren't good friends.

What's most important is that you feel comfortable with the way you look and present yourself. Dressing basic can make you just as uncomfortable as dressing eccentrically, so get to know yourself and figure out what suits you best.

For anyone who struggles with acne: witch hazel, rose water and african black soap are life savers. Drinking a lot of water (add lemon to help your body flush out toxins), exfoliating twice a week (I recommend coconut oil/sugar if you have dry skin, not good for oily skin and can clog your pores. Coconut oil/baby oil is great for anything. Good for black hair, shaving, etc. It will ruin your hair if you're white, it'll break down your follicles.) and moisturizing helps a lot. You can also use tea tree oil on pimples, and they'll clear up within a day or so.

also no one gives a fuck about what you do in college so that made it easier.

i don't really concern myself with what the average well adjusted guy wants. i see weirdos with decent looking bf all the time

I don't really get what the problem is because you've basically got the ideal fashion body? Unless you're saying you want to look like you have more meat on your bones- then perhaps try more voluminous silhouettes but maintaining a fitted or slightly high waist or wearing bulkier textiles. Look at vejas for inspo- he does a lot of voluminous/cropped silhouettes that make his models look thicker but not in an unflattering manner.

Don't listen to the old hack. My mum has kept a skincare routine since she was 10, she's almost 60 now and doesn't have any wrinkles, I mean that. She got Botox in the middle of her forehead because of harsh lines formed from 25+ years of frowning when doing hairdressing. Other than that, doesn't look a day over 35. Invest in good skincare, you're paying for your skin to be plump bright and glowy 15-20 years down the line. You can make your skin LOOK healthy, but you should want it to actually BE healthy. Look into La Mer, La Prairie and Sisley skincare.

I have oily skin with acne. Do I need moisturizer? Do you guys have exfoliator recommendations? What kind of skincare should I invest in at 22 so I don't look like shit by the time I'm 30?

>> No.12191489

>>12191413
Yes, everybody needs moisturizer, especially after washing your face in the morning and at night.
I know it seems counter-intuitive since you probably just want to dry out your skin, but I'd recommend you try starting with skincare products for sensistive skin.
Also, I wouldn't recommend physical exfoliants other than rotating brushes (like clarisonic etc.), you risk even more irritation on your face.
I'm from Europe and my favourite products are those by LaRoche Posay and Eucerin, which are both superb for sensitive/blemish prone skin, Vichy is nice too. Plus, they're decently priced and easy to find. I like Cetaphil, but the almond oil they use makes my eczema go crazy.
Skincare basics would be:
>facial soap
>alcohol-free toner
>moisturizer
>makeup remover if you wear makeup

I don't like to spend too much and I do think it's more about your style rather than how much you spend but I can't help but feel a step below by not having more luxurious pieces. For the love of god, don't get Botox. Shiseido's eye cream is good, and La Mer is excellent once you can afford it, but at your age you can get away with using drugstore stuff. If your skin is on the oily side, you probably don't need to do anything at all until you hit your late 20s.

Botox is preventative, you can't get it after you have wrinkles you need to get it at the point where say you smile and your crows feet show (but you can't see them when your face is relaxed).

Everyone misunderstands botox, do some research. They've done twin studies where one twin regularly gets botox in their early 20s and has less wrinkles later on (even waning off treatment).

Your account of having oily skin doesn't apply to everyone. Most people at 30 actually look 30, Botox isn't that expensive. I say if you can afford it, do it (without going overboard).

Oh no I understood what she was saying. The point is that those interests are so mainstream nowadays that its ridiculous to suggest it makes you stand out, or to feel like an outsider because of it. The other guy's point is spot on - it has nothing to do with quirky interests, just that she might be too plain ugly to be attempting to imitate some insta bimbos without significant sustained effort.

She resents the fact that she might really BELONG in the "ugly" (average) crowd one tier below those vapid princesses, but blames her absolutely bland interests (by today's standards) which likely have less to do with her identity crisis than she realizes/is willing to admit.

tl;dr those interests aren't forcing her into the ugly weird crowd. being ugly is. and there's nothing wrong with that.

I am willing to spend decent money on good basics that I expect to last me years - good shoes, pants, shirts, jackets, etc. I prefer dress in a style I enjoy and only look at what is trendy now and then to see if anything appeals or suits me and would make a good addition to my repertoire, but I rather keep my wardrobe cohesive and manageable.

My suggestion is to learn how to develop a wardrobe intelligently and in a way that is financially and environmentally conscious, and not to just consume trends mindlessly to show how ~unique~ you are. You will tend to end up with an insurmountable collection of clothing that you compartmentalised and will probably hate or never wear after a few months anyway. You want your clothes to easily and seamlessly work together in a way that works for you and your style.

People use "high-quality" differently of course.
But let me just say that how long a sweater lasts is not why I would rather prefer a designer sweater to a h&m one.
A lot of the fast fashion clothes can last a very long time if taken care of, not as long ofc but you get more value than designer if you buy fast fashion, in terms of time.
But the problem with fast fashion is that very often they slack on something small that keeps bugging you, for me at least.
E.g. the cut is off, the silhouette is off, the zip is off, the material texture is off etc.
That's why designer stuff is often "better" in terms of design, not really "quality" in terms of how long it lasts.
