recently I had a friend give me a futon frame that I turned into a bed frame. You can disassemble an old futon and take the "legs" off, using just the part that comes in contact with the futon as a frame to keep your mattress off the ground. It looks great if you are looking for a minimal low bed. Plus I saved the futon legs so I can always turn it back into a futon if I move. You can probably find a free one on craigslist.

Advice? It doesn't really feel warm or homey. I've considered getting plants, but I'm concerned they'll just fucking die with the lack of sunlight and be nests for bugs.

Besides that, I don't really have any sort of coherent theme going on. I ditched most of my furniture when I moved, and most of what I have left is just bland modern stuff.

English is not my main language, so excuse me for any mistakes.
Clean up real good. And by real good I mean get rid of al the stuff you don't need and wipe down every surface with Domestos or any product simmilar to that (cleaning solution based on chlorium). Of course, read the instructions and watch out that you don't fuck up any surfaces with it.
From left to right:

roatet the couch to face the furnace, unless you got some really good view from the window. Put a steel plate under the furnace. Get a cheap rug that's nice looking, something that resembles a turkish or persian one, off Craigslist or similar site. Mount the TV/monitor on the wall, PC underneath it. Or, if you can get a cheap PC desk and you dont use the doors on the left, put it there.
Leave the bed where it is, it's in a good position. I'd divide that part with dressing room curtains, or some heavy dark curtains that are hanged on a rail from the ceiling.
Move the shelves from the kitchen (the one to the window, next to ones in front of the bathroom(?). Make that into a storage space, and keep it clean.
As far as kitchen goes, move the table that's to the left of the stove next to the one where the sink is, and fridge next to it. I'd redo the table, sand the paint off of it, and just put clear coating on it.
The color of the walls can be left white, but try and get rid of the orange paint in the kitchen corner. Buy a simple wallpaper that can be painted over it.
Install blinds on the windows.

This is what I'd do first to the place. Shouldn't cost you much, if anything (if you get lucky and find good stuff that people want to throw away).
I like the idea of a bike inside, but since it's all open space, I'd rather leave it outside, at least when it's warm and dry.

oh... and since you work next to a destilery, check out the palletes. if they are not chemically treated, take 2 - 4 of them, celan them up and dry them, then put your matress on them.
Don't know what your distilerry produces, but if there's any scrap wood left (from barrels and stuff), and they throw it away, look for inspo on DIY stuff on the net and make your own furniture.

As long as you're happy

Personally I view the living room area of an apartment to be a place for my computer, books, instruments/equipment, etc. I made the conscious decision not to buy a big couch and television because I simply choose not to have much company and would occasionally occupy a small space of the couch when I'm alone.

first thing, how long long do you see yourself living there?

if it's the foreseeable future, i'd just paint the walls white, and slowly get nice stuff. just like a wardrobe. a colossal mistake you can make very easily is going "all in" with no real experience or idea.

it's like how you see kids on /fa/ with pallet bed frames, a plant, and ikea furniture in a dorm room and can't help but think "what a contrived faggot."

that looks like a fun space anon. hope you make it comfy.

That's a bit harsh, desu.
Serial killers usually have more creative flair.

John Wayne Gacy was into handicrafts.
Mostly involving body parts, but still.

Any details appreciated, cheers.

Lived in London for too long, sick of not being able to see further than across the street.
I'd honestly have no problem living in a shitty flat in a shitty council tower block just for the view if it was on a high floor.

And that 'art' is shit.
Some artist is pissing himself right now.
