I'll never give up the couch (at least, not until it's old and worn out).
It's the most comfy couch I've ever had, and I love the leather, it's so buttery soft.
Won't give up the wall hanging, either, just because I collect mid century decor and that came straight out of an estate that basically hadn't changed since the sixties. I'd take a picture of some of my other mid century furniture, but it's either already wrapped for moving, or has boxes piled in front of it. That's why I only took a pic of that corner of the living room, because the other side is piled with packed boxes and wrapped items.

for the rack i bought a bunch of pipes, elbows, screws and a piece of plywood from home depot, it all came out to be ~70 dollars and about 20 minutes of building time. you could probably get cheaper if you use a different metal. i used cast iron.

the bookshelf is just elbows from home depot for like $2 each, and the piece of wood is from a storage room my landlord had.

thank you for the reccs, i'll check em out

I'm moving into my first apartment soon, and I have absolutely zero furniture/decor. I left from mommy and daddy's house to join the Army and for the past year and change have been in training/schools/selection/deployment. I have a sparse room in the barracks but I am marrying in April and will therefore be moving out soon after. Waifu has a job contract through November so she won't be moving up until then so I will have approximately six months to find and decorate a place from the ground up. I am in Tacoma, WA which is probably the most /fa/ CONUS duty station.

While the aesthetics here are nice, the problem with this is insulation.. Those windows are probably old as hell, and have plenty of cracks to let heat out and cold air in.

I suppose for summer it's ok, but in winter and I assume it's in the northeast United States, it's going to get real shitty real fast.

since your room is rather small paint it in white or get some bright coloured furniture in it.
Get white short curtains or at least white blinders, paint the window frames white and remove whatever is on the windowsill for a nc plant. Also open it some more, it's an important light source. remove those yellow drawers they look lost.

I've personally got an aversion to pine (especially composing your shoerack/bookcases) and think it goes against the cleaner white/cream/shades of black/metal colorscheme you're closest to, but I don't think there's much to pragmatically be done in this case beyond putting up some good art

Build a little L shaped shelf/table to put books and shit on. Even if you don't want stuff at by your feet, you can put things on the side of it. If you have the room, you can put it on casters and pull it out for extra storage.

Alternatively maybe shelves up the wall. Better than wasting the space.

Id move anything out that isn't completely necessary. Some green colours or indoor plants would look nice too. More storage if possible. Dont hang much on the wall unless its black and white, as it will clash with the wallpaper.

>> No.11058102

>>11058046
>>11058041
Change the wallpaper for starters, maybe even the doors. fill the walls with things you like, not just wallpaper, yeh know? you can maybe keep the pinstripes below the map, but the map and stripes look a mess together. get some better lighting, it looks like you only have the one in the ceiling. make more room for your windows, looks like good light is coming through but it's kinda covered by the rack and stripes and curtains. make something out of that table, right now you're just using it as a coat rack... put it somewhere you really want to sit, with something on it you really want to sit and work on or whatever. you'll use it a lot more. get some covers for your bed. get some plants!
Don't have to hide the power rack. it would just seem like you're hiding something, it has a hospital vibe to it with a curtain
and it'll close the room even more.
