The edgiest thing going on in pic related is the paintings in the background, to which he sort of borrows the aesthetic to make himself look better. Certainly he is sauce, but often his suits don't fit too well, he himself is a bit chunky and he doesn't often match socks or accessorial to his fit/photo. Besides though blue shades + blue suit.

if you judge this as fashion photography as opposed to just outfit critiquing, it does its job well. i think there needs to be threads based solely on outfits and one based on pictures as a whole, because otherwise people will just nitpick every little detail.

That is literally the level MFA targets though. People get funneled in there who used to wear cargo shorts and graphic tees. For Reddit teenage to mid-20-somethings who never thought about fashion previously, they start in MFA. I think once most of them start to develop their own style they get sick of that sub since its the same discussions of basics all the time, like whether a black suit is appropriate for a job interview or not, or whether CDBs are really slippery in the winter.

/fa/ doesn't look a lot better, but I think their fits are at least a little more casual. Being a college freshman and dressing like your professor isn't something someone should aspire too once you have the rules down.
