Had bad acne for years. Was one step away from accutane. Here's how I mostly got rid of it:
>wash face with curd soap every night
>use bpo religiously
>started shaving with a saftey razor instead of the newest gilette Mach 19 face raper
>disinfect blade before shaving
>alcohol based aftershave

and most importantly
>stopped drinking milk

I get one or two barely noticeable spots a week.

I have always has shit luck with sunscreens and have recently found one that was very good and doesn't leave residue on my face after application; however because of the other topicals I'm taking (dermatologist) it makes my face red and dry.

My question is: does applying moisturizer after first applying sunscreen diminish the UV protection? I looked online but found a lot of inconclusive broscience

Have read the sticky and decided it's time to start skincare routine.

After some research I came to the conclussion that I don't know jack shit about where/what I have to buy. I know I need some cleaser, exfoliator, astringent and moisturizer but the problem is I don't know how these products are called in my native language. (Dutch)

Nivea seems to have some relevant products but some of their cleansers contain scrub (2-in-1) so figured this might be the same as exfoliating? I'm so confused...

Can someone just give me a list of products available for Europoors so I can just go out and cop some products? I want to start so badly, just don't know where...

Face-care lads just came here to say how good pic related is - its like almond oil with a few other bits and bobs.
You smear it in your face (after washing hands) and massage it in then wipe off with a hot flannel.
Remarkable difference made - I was just using Clearasil or something so I guess I should have been
going more gentle? Couldn't recommend this enough - feels lovely my skin isn't only spot-free
its also healthy looking?

Gotta use a fresh flannel (I use 1 per day, re-using it in the evening) to wipe it off which is quite long tbph.
Also its kinda pricey? Idk I think its fully worth it - I don't use anything else apart from moisturizer and
I saw results within like a week?

I have obscenely oily skin

Like, I wash it in the morning and by time I'm leaving home I have a shiny face already. The rest of my body gets somewhat oily too, but not as bad as my face luckily. I also get few zits now and then, but it's not as bad as when I was a teen and I don't care about them anymore. Needless to say, because of the oily skin I have blackheads too.

I've been to a dermatologist, he prescribed me this cleansing gel to use twice a day, have been on it for few months, doesn't work.

Now I was looking into some really mild, natural treatment. The "don't wash your face" treatment is out of the question for me, I'm often in public and with grills and I can't afford to let myself go even for a few weeks.
I've stumbled across OCM, has anyone tried it? Was thinking about some mixture with castor oil.

Or has anyone had problems with bad oily skin in general?

95% acne free now. Posted a few times but for those of you who have not read how:

Morning:
-Cleanse (Cerave Foaming Facial Cleanser)
-Exfoliate (Stridex Maximum Strength Pads)
-Moisturize (Cetaphil Lotion)
-Sunscreen

Night:
-Cleanse
-Apply Acne.org 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide.

Personally, I dont like using moisturizer at night. It seems that drying my skin out at night helos clear spots and then moisturizing during the day keeps my skin from peeling/cracking.

Other things I do:
-Drink plenty of water
-Change pillow case every day (Sometimes every other day)
-Change sheets every 5-7 days
-Avoid touching my face
-Face masks every so often (Not on a routine for this. Usually do it twice a month)
-Cleanse my razor with alcohol before AND after use.

As for diet, I have not noticed an increase in acne based on what I eat. I can drink coffee loaded with sugar and milk, have a bowl of cereal and a glass of milk and eat candy and it doesn't get worse.

Keeping my regiment consistent has been the most important factor.

rosacea is a quite complex condition and the reasons to why people have it is not completely established. there are many different suspected causes, several subtypes of the skin disorder, and many different treatments to try.

while there are compounds that can be used to somewhat efficiently treat rosacea "pimples" (like antibiotics, or metronidazole) - the redness is a bit harder to treat.

read up on the lifestyle advice re. diet, sun protection, temperature issues. it actually works to some extent.

there's 2 main things I think you should do:

- get a discreet foundation (and/or spot concealer) to cover up the redness, until you manage to get it actively treated. proper makeup can make a huge difference, as you'll see from the images I'll post. try to not get bothered with the fact that it's makeup and you're a guy (I assume). properly applied makeup will simply make your face look more healthy and normal, and won't be noticed. remember that you have a medial reason to use it. just ask for a good foundation true to your skin in any makeup store - they're used to helping people with skincare conditions there.

- go to a new dermatologist. "there's nothing to do" is completely unfounded. the main treatment I think you should go for is laser treatment/IPL treatment. it'll quite simply burn away the superficial capillaries, and your skin won't be as red anymore. it's highly effective, but you often require repeated treatments - but I really think it could improve your face dramatically. note that I can't really promise anything as I don't know what your face is like, but that a decent derm should be able to offer you treatment options - because there are treatment options. I'll post some before-after pictures of that as well.

just apply makeup in the meantime. it'll do wonders until you're actually able to treat it.

as you can see, both mild and severe cases of rosacea can be significantly improved.

there's hope for you too.

good luck.

Hey man i feel you. I have slight redness usually, when the weather gets cold oh man i light up. And i live in Norway.

I haven't thought about it for quite some time actually. But be sure that you are going to be OK.

Those people are just awful, man, remember that those guys give everyone shit.

Lifting won't magically remove rosacea (it might help though), but you need some confidence and realization my man, and lifting feels great.

Are you guys me? My nose gets it worse and it makes it appear bigger than it actually is. I went to a dermathologist a couple of days ago and he said this was all due to stress and that I should try to solve my problems for the oil to go away. Fucking bullshit.

I read this http://hastebin.com/raw/jakoyizayi

Considering my skin problems should I follow this routine too? Please respond.

What do you lot think about Simple?

Thinking of copping pic related as well as the Cetaphil moisturiser, but if it's shit I'll find another one.

Maybe the Simple toner or another toner as well but I dunno that feels a bit gay tbqh.

it's really quite a tragedy that dermatologists rarely prescribe isotretinoin (accutane) on very low doses to help people cope with extremely oily skin. it would really help you guys get lower levels of oil, since it would kill of some of the sebum-producing glands.

otherwise you generally just need to cope using a non-drying oil-free cleanser, blotting sheets, and a discreet matte foundation - and wait to get out of puberty/the years when there's a lot of excess hormones contributing to oil production (often a main cause).

sebaceous filaments and blackheads can quite easily be treated using "mechanical extraction" and salicylic acid/AHA though.

the stuff in there are just product suggestions. cleanser-exfoliator-moisturizer is quite a universal concept. salicylic acid/AHA should help with the spots (see above).

Cheers mate, will tell my dermatologist about accutane.

My last question still stands, though. Should I follow that routine on the link? Also, I hit the gym almost daily. Can this have repercussions on my skin?

Your dermatologist sounds like a quack if he didn't warn you about that beforehand.
