>how do I layer, /fa/?

Winter's approaching and I'd like to start layering instead of packing on a large jacket. Are there any do's and dont's to think about? does theo wear two t shirts in this fit?

I mean, what kind of style do you usually wear now? Are you a streetfag, ninjamegafag, prepfag, normfag?

People are going to recommend things based on their styles, not yours. I have more of a prep-lumberyard style going on the weekends. T>Oxford/Button-Down>Knitwear>Peacoat/Duffle or if its not TOO cold, something like a patagonia or NF fleece with a pair of slim fitting corduroys and L.L Bean Duckboots.

I have to dress professionally M-F, so layering options here are slim to none. Undershirt>dress shirt>Jacket/Blazer>Overcoat.

Pic not me but my inspo

I dumped some photos I think are cool. I'm not into the prep aesthetic and similar because it makes me look like an old man (being 18 I'd rather dress my age, and my face looks young). Minimalism streetwear would be a good catch-all term although I've kind of made it my own.

I still welcome all styles, I'd rather have people posting their style than refraining from posting at all. Neat inspo photo, saved it.

Thanks!

I look like a turd when I try and dress street. I had a housemate my last year of uni who had this preppy caothlic-school style meets street chic kinda thing. Dude could rock a ralph button up with his grandfather's royal navy WWII bomber one day and a fuckin psychedelic cat shirt and a 1990s patagonia wind breaker the next and totally killed it. He's also 6'7'' which I'm sure helps.

Do you wan't layering for efficiency? or just for the looks?

I think it depends a lot on your face/build and overall style. I can imagine some friends who'd look ridiculous with anything else than OCBD's.

That style sounds pretty appealing, care to elaborate? I'm 6'5 and the first thing I think of is how the hell he can fit a Ralph OCBD! Got any pics?

Cheers

A little bit of both. Here in Sweden it gets cold, but not TOO cold.

I'd like to layer so that I don't freeze to death while looking fresh. Pretty much what someone in So.Cal would kill for if you get what I'm saying.

I used to always say "I fucking hate clothes cause I'm always in between medium and large." He would retort with some "WHAT DO YOU MEAAAAAAAAN", try being 6 fucking 7. XLs are long enough but too baggy and L is slim enough but too short, piss off m8."

I went through some of his clothes he left when he moved back to england thinking I could make a fresh cop, then it hit me who's clothes I was looking through. Picked up one shirt and it was like.. as long as my pants. nope.jpeg

And as for the pic, not that I would feel comfortable posting without his consent, sorry chap.

The eternal struggle! I'm somewhere inbetween JUST too tall for large but not quite there, so I just bite the bullet and go for it. Used to look for J.Crew Tall line but realised that it's not what I want to wear. Occasionally you'll run into a slim XL or a long L and that's when you struck gold.

Of course, didn't think of that. I'm sure it was just as I imagine it (fresh as hell).

Cheers

I'd wear it with loose blue jeans or maybe some linen pants. shorts would look great too

anything but skinny bottoms.

>XLs are long enough but too baggy and L is slim enough but too short,
this is something manlets will never have to deal with
almost nothing comes in tall sizes, so it's either too baggy in the chest and too long sleeves with the right length, or a not baggy chest and correct length sleeves on a shirt that's too short.

I've seen a few of this kind as well. It looks neat and would probably work in something like OP's pic. Sorry don't have any inspo at hand.
