But its really interesting to see as time goes on how the cut changes ever so slightly, season to season. All the while, remaining the same classic Raf design.

I'm really glad to see undercover getting posted. I was going to pop in here to talk about it. This AW15 collection is really doing it for me even though I really only wear all black (inb4 edgelord) and some whites/greys. I'm a big fan of the William Blake all over prints and as always the musical influence is welcome and surprisingly tasteful. I thought the use of Jesus and the Mary Chain (and to a lesser extent Television) imagery in the past few collections was polarizing and in some cases tacky. The splash of Bowie influence are on less on the nose coupled with the vague campy horror film vibe.

Anyway, big fan.

Is anyone here devoted to a particular designer/aesthetic for their wardrobe? For a large amount of time my wardrobe was heavily Ann D/early Raf focused but now I've found myself transitioning heavily into pure Yohji with an emphasis on movement and volume as well as a dandy edge.

I would love to support both aesthetics concurrently but somehow that feels inauthentic? Maybe I'm overthinking it.

I would disagree on that front. Silhouette wise they are far disconnected with Ann being slim sharp and flared, while Yohji is obviously very wide with more bulbous shapes and accommodating looks. Aesthetically the main link between the two is obviously their emphasis on black and elements of romanticism/more traditional attire. Ann is far more consistent in this category however while Yohji is often eclectic and eccentric is his array of aesthetics and looks, with each show being different from the last.

Referencing only the menswear here btw, their womenswear are far more compatible.

The soloist is fine. What's your problem? He wasn't even making claims of transcending "other pleb fashion." Takahiro Miyashita has held up MUCH better than others in maintaining a singular vision that always executes its purpose than most cut/paste JP designers. Moreover, he has resisted nearly all imitation. That's a respectable history.

if you want this exact outfit, it's gonna cost about $3000 right now, even finding these pieces second hand has been difficult for a reasonable price because the demand is high. You can attain this look for far cheaper though. The issue is finding a good long coat like this one. It's sold out most places full price at $1700.

question

i've been slowly acquiring pieces that i'm comfortable wearing around my campus as i do my phd (chemistry), so i've been trying to cultivate a mixture of an academic look and techwear. my wardrobe is becoming increasingly engineered garments and arc'teryx veilance.

i've also grown to love how sneakers paired with anything make it look like you don't give a shit

i'm thinking of getting a pair of qasa highs in black, what do u think? are they as comfy as they look? are they at all water repellent or are they gonna be finicky and fall apart? plz help

techwear doesn't really mix with relaxed yohji/comme stuff, they're the exact opposite of eachother. Techwear is primarily functional non-drapey synthetic stuff, while yohji is relaxed, non functional super drapey stuff made from natural fabrics like linen and wool. i wouldn't really recommend mixing in y-3 with mainline yohji either, so no, don't cop qasas. buy some boots/ low top leather sneakers.

I'm going to shoot that in the other direction honestly. I didn't realize there was anyone who felt this way about the qasa. I guess this necessitates you trying them on, OP.

Anyway, I like Rombaut alright. They're a decent middle ground for tech/mainline yohji (although in some respect they give off a "middle ground" aesthetic as well which you may not like.)

I get that it's coming from a mindset of purity in focus but I could not handle only buying from one designer. It'd feel like i'm surrendering my own sense of style, which is based on how I pair different influences, and replacing it purely with the vision of someone else.

Now dressing is hardly an art since it's simply a presentation of someone else's work, but at the very least being able to mix it up fills me with some level of satisfaction.

I thought it would be obvious that any trivial, non-runway question about what some random man's glasses are would be obviously filtered from someone's catalogue of what they considered permissible, but apparently not. It would be perhaps worthwhile if it were somehow demonstrably connected to any of the topics here (beyond "well they /could/ be 'designer," (bleh)), but as far as I can see it's better suited in every way for the ID/w2c threads that are always available.

>fuck you guys, so pretentious

Yes I hope that is your impression. A healthy dose of pretense keeps a board stymieing off the dull, mediocre clutter. I'm not saying that your question necessarily is that, because those threads I pointed you to are worthwhile, I am just saying that there are differences in the level of pretense each space on a board *should* (in my lonely opinion) maintain. I hope this general reminds kind, but firm. Please seek assistance elsewhere. I am being helpful, and also telling you to leave.

That one is yohji yamamoto pour homme, will probably be hard finding something else just like it so i'd advise you to try to find another one on Y!jp or rakuten, ebay might be worth a look too

If you want that specific model look for the snaps, yohji has done other similar models a number of times so I reckon you can find something similar without looking too hard

Other than that i'd advise you to look for some sort of elongated blazer, don't really know where to direct you though

i want to contribute and i love seeing what everyone else posts im afraid im just a dumbass and i also don't know where to find good links to post :(

>> No.10500856

Is there any chance we could split the image dumping and discussion into separate threads? With all respect, if I want to see a show, I'll find the photos on the internet. I'd rather come to one of these threads to join (mostly text-based) discussion over high fashion.

nice suggestion, maybe post just 1 or a few images of a collection plus the link to see all the photos

idk about that, thread seems pretty dead as it is, excluding stuff isn't gonna get it anywhere. just post anything related here

don't see why this is an issue either lol, so what if someone posts runway stuff in the fashion general? if we were talking full shows i'd understand but a handful of looks should be ok, keeps it bumped at the very least

this is a general after all so limiting it seems really silly

if anything there should be a new one that could be limited to discussion and text so we can see how it works out

board probably can't sustain two good fashion related threads though, this one has been way down on the bottom several times

Okay I'm back, the exhibition was quite interesting and had some nice pieces out. I took 70 pictures in total, some pretty blurry and from shitty angles etc, but I obviously won't post all of them.

There were eleven rooms, each with a different theme so even if I post just a couple from every room there'll be like 20/30 pics. I could upload a .zip if anyone wants me to, or post some of the (in my opinion) more interesting pieces.

Tricky Dick.

In this room they also had a screen showing three videos, the Chalayan show with the chair/table show, an Eckhaus Latta video about some asian grannies doing some sort of exercise in Latta clothing, and a Gypsy Sport video.

Here's the .zip with all the pictures I took, as I've said, some are pretty blurry, such as the one with the Final Home coat. They should be in order by room, separated by a small text that was on the wall of each one, presenting the theme of that particular room.

Kim kiroic looks fun imo
Rombaut as the other anon said
Or you could always do the soloist side lace sneakers which pairs well with engineered garment type things
Spectusshoeco will be more techwear imo but considering how minimal it is it might work

She's one of the more exciting people in fashion right now. Her creations are truly beautiful and her approach using innovative techniques like 3D printing in a non-gimmicky way is truly admirable. I also like how she still manages to produce wearable garments.
