So I've heard on several different threads that ACNE isn't good quality and that APC is shit from shit tier countries; what are some legit quality designer brands then? I haven't boughten either, but people slandering them makes me questions my choices in Naked and Famous, Nudie, and Supreme as they are on comparable levels. I'm paranoid because they all feel good to me, but I wonder if I just haven't felt quality yet?

OK

APC is equivalent to burberry london (not brit), billy ried, rag & bone, it's a decent quality point. It's mid-tier designer. It's great stuff.

Acne is also mid-tier designer. It's not serving quite the same customer base APC, but nonetheless, it's mid-tier. Acne is OK quality. The last few seasons have lessened up on quality in order to decrease their overhead. They can do this because they're riding on the reputation they've built. Rag & Bone did this. 2010, R&B made some of the best in the business in terms of knit-wear, outwear, and even jeans. Nowadays, their jeans are shit, and since they've expanded their market, meaning they're selling in more areas across the world, their quality control has dipped. This doesn't make them a bad brand, it's just what happens when a brand peaks in quality.

You can buy expensive clothes. DO NOT WORRY ABOUT QUALITY. As long as you read the washing instructions and you're not going to your blue color job in the morning decked out in your latest cops, they'll last.

Nudie is decent quality.
Supreme is cheap. Their t's retail at 58. They don't pretend to be quality, so do not let the fuccboi's resell prices fool you. Supreme is not good quality. You're paying for hype. Not fashion.
Naked & Famous is ok. Their denim honestly feels cheap to me, but they're definitely a good middle ground, and some say they're comparable to APC.

Don't worry too much about brands. Look at the retail price. That will tell you the most about quality.

There is a huge difference in quality between a 50 dollar pair of jeans and a 100 dollar pair of jeans.
There is a huge difference in quality between a 100 dollar pair of jeans and a 200 dollar pair of jeans.
There is not a big difference in quality between a 200 dollar pair of jeans and 500 dollar pair of jeans.
Not a huge difference between a 500 dollar pair of jeans a 2k pair of jeans.

Also, at the end of the day, look at the fiber content, price, and place of origin.

Once you start buying, you'll find what you're most comfortable with. I hate polyester. I'm not going to buy a 300 CDG polyester button up. THat's a bad idea, but for some others, that's their ball to play with.

Do what you like. But know, the trendier the pice is, the less likely it's going to last. APC will last. Their brand still has decent quality control and their prices are classic and most will last a few years. ACNE is gimmicky. Their pieces are meant to last only 2-3 seasons before you retire them. Don't buy Acne expecting to have a goofy sweater you can pass on to your kids.

It can tell you what isn't quality, but it isn't a good indicator for quality.

You should pretty much across the board ignore made in china shit if your budget allows it, however when it comes to other countries (Italy, Britain, France, Germany) just being outside of the U.S. doesn't indicate high quality.

I've found that my nicest cops were obtained from brands that are smaller and don't have a name out there that's too big they need to mass produce. Follow fashion blogs/sites that specialize in talking about up and coming brands or smaller local brands in foreign countries, this usually nets you very unique looking clothing with higher quality materials and care put into the product.

Of course at the end of the day it all comes down to your aesthetic, you could cop quality vintage clothes from thrift stores all over the country for pennies and be more fashionable than someone spending hundreds to thousands on designer clothing or really low-key brands.

first hand experience and logic, m8. But mainly logic.

Common Projects first started selling their shoes at a loss. 200~ for amazing quality. The built a reputation, then they were able to start charging at a profit 400-500 dollars! What else could they do do strength profit margins and meet rising demand? CP was selling out, fuccboi's wanted more and more. So CP lowered quality slightly in order to both make more money and lower the amount of time required to make a pair of shoes so that more time could be dedicated to making larger inventory. This is business. Nothing will be famous or wanted forever. CP has no moral obligation to keep their quality 100% as they did 6 years ago. They reputation is building to a new all time high. In a few years, regardless of their quality, their popularity will start to wane. No matter what they do, what quality they produce, what new looks they come out with, the demand will ALWAYS lower, so why stick to the same standard as they did in the beginning, if they can make more money and take advantage of their current market promise?

This is just an example, but it happens with all brands. Growing up, Burberry was considered the pinnacle of quality and luxury. Pick up any Burberry piece, any line, and it will feel not better than mainline polo or lacoste. They're riding on a decades old reputation, betting consumers will continue to buy because of their name, not because of their actual product, so in the long run. They're making more money.

dubs speak the fucking truth, especially on those bottom last four lines. buying expensive clothes is okay, but you can't reasonably justify everything based on muh quality. paying $500 for a rare supreme tee isn't for the quality. likewise, paying $500 for an alexander McQueen tee isnt paying for the quality, its the brand. at some point in price ranges, you'll have diminishing marginal returns. you basically can't make a tee for more than $100 (unless its some ridiculous haider piece made from fabric just 8 atoms thick), and anything you pay passed that is just hype and branding.
