Skateboarding is a pretty expensive hobby tho.
A new deck and a new pair of shoes lasted me around 2 months back when I skated the most. That's about 150 bucks, then you'll also rip some jeans occasionally, change wheels, packers and bearings every now and then.

the initial investment for skating is relatively cheap, but unless you're bad or only skating really smooth parks the gear won't last long
