Quality is shit but at the price range who even fucking cares tbh. It's also a great place to buy certain items that you are experimenting with that you can later replace for higher quality.

I bought my first pair of skinny jeans there. My first pair of drop crotch pants there. My frost pair of cuffed trousers there. I pretty much experimented and found my current style all from buying cheap shit from there and working there. Most everything has been replaced with higher quality versions by now.

Probably one of the most insightful posts on /fa/. You have to weigh your use and balance it with the money spent. Tonnes of people just cop iron rangers on r/mfa because they're memed to oblivion. They're good boots -- but as your first pair? When your shoes cost more than your entire wardrobe, something's wrong.

And that's not taking into account the fit either, know your dimensions before you cop expensive shit -- hard lesson I had to learn. Especially your shoe size, it's hard to trust comparisons made online because many people themselves are simply wrong about what their actual shoe size is.

>> No.10329422

This and dress for what your lifestyle is.

If youre a NEET, acned, neck bearded beta cuckold you probably don't need designer clothes, shoes and accessories.

You'd look ridiculous wearing an outfit worth $800 while yourself being a beta loser who stutters and looks like shit. No one is going to admire your clothes because real life isn't a meme forum.

If you look and feel good you can wear fucking Walmart clothes and they'll still suit you and no one will be able to tell tbh fam.

Their quality in comparison to other low tier stores like uniqlo, gap, f21 etc is fine, but when you compare anything there to higher tier brands you will notice a significant difference. If h&m works for you though, then run with it.

Wouldn't all that money spent experimenting be better suited to saving up for something better? If you buy the H&M prototype every time before you try something new, that's a lot of money being spent on shit clothes you'll cease to wear that are a copy of what you want.
Especially if money is tight.

I'm down with buying what you desire and then getting a feel of how to style it correctly the longer you keep it

there is nothing wrong with buying fast fashion and wearing it

the problem is that it's FAST fashion

so it's trendy for like a month or 2

wearable for maybe 3 months at most and then should not be worn much after wards

and the "basics" don't last more than 4 months of heavy wear anyways

so its generally more expensive, more time consuming (which is the hard part) and a greater carbon footprint than just buying quality pieces

an ideal scenario is a mix of both

There's often subtle things even fashion-ignorant people will pick up on about better clothes, but that's not the important thing. The important thing is you can tell.

Look, I know from pretty dire poverty, I know from only getting new clothes from dumpster diving and clothing swaps, I know from having to buy Uniqlo Dry Packaged Tees and saving up for a pair of Dickies. And that's fine, if that's the situation you're in. We always make do with what we have.

But when you're not in that situation, when you have a little bit more to throw around? When you can get used tees that retail for $300+ for $50-150 with a little Internet savvy and just a teensy bit more saving, why not go for the clothing you feel better in, that feels better on your skin, when you move, when you watch it fall on your body in the mirror?

Here's what worked for me:
>be poorfag
>have wardrobe full of cheap shit I got from h&m and similar cheap-o stores
here laid my primary issue: all in all I could've copped some seriously nice pieces with the money I spent on all this garbage, so I made a decision
>got rid of 80% of my wardrobe
>donated cheap sweaters and tees to charity
>only kept the essentials: some basic tees, couple pairs of jeans, sweater or two, some necessary coats and whatnot
>allowed myself to thrift shop, but not anywhere else besides respectable fashion houses that sold well made clothing
>stopped spending money on stupid shit like starbucks, fast food, etc.
>got a part time job at a market
even at minimum wage, when you're frugally conservative with your money it piles up quickly, I was shocked at just how much money I wasted before. Now I have a decent sized wardrobe of high quality stuff, and am actually healthier because I stopped spending money on shit like junk food and instead eat at home, making my meals (also helped me learn to cook a little better). Just be a frugal fucking jew if you want sick cops OP, that's it.

9/10 nurse was in the common room yesterday(I was listening to music) chatting with other nurses; a black guy and some old lady. They then start talking about their sex lives and clubbing and shit and the hot girl's like how she's had caramel and brown but never black and I thought she was giving the innuendo to the other black nurse and she was like maybe she should chat up the black guard at the hospital because he's big and could throw her around her bed etc Then today morning I asked her to open the laundry room for me and she compliments me on my style, looks me up and down while curling her hair(literally wearing white tee, slim dark denim, converse) and I stutter out a th-thank you but inside I'm laughing at how absurd this is because I hadn't worn anything "effay" in my time in hospital. At first I dismiss it because
a) She's way too hot for me and the other black nurse is more handsome
b) Why would she hook up with a patient
c) and more likely that she just likes flirting (old lady mentioned that)

but I reflected on the convo she had yesterday and there's a part of me wondering what if? Should I ask someone to bring one of my good casual outfits so I step my game up?

h&m is good if you aren't super into fashion and coutures and niches and trends and memes.

i have a certain look i strive for and i think it works. i dip in and out of certain trends, just to show people that i am aware of current fashion and that i don't reject it entirely. but i have my own spin on it. h&m is fine for this sort of thing.

i guess what i mean is that h&m is good for the occasional cop for people who don't want to be perceived as being super into fashion. it takes a certain kind of personality to do that, and there is no point in looking cutting edge and effay if you don't want to be seen as that guy who is into fashion.
