I've been cutting my hair for the last 4 years and do the same style you just described except my hair us much longer on top (undercut or wedge cut). It's very easy to do if you have long hair because you can comb the Lin you want and then tie up the top. Since yours is short, I'd suggest getting some hair putty and styling the top, just the top, so it is hard and creates a dramatic line where you'll do your cut with the clippers.
It's an easy style to maintain and feels good in the summer. Plus short sides make a face look slimmer/more defined.
Just remember to ask for help on the back unless you're confident and have mirror you can put behind you to see what you're doing.

I can't really give you any advice man but I find when ethnic people similar to whatever you are shave their head like that it just looks really stilted and weird. Like mini spikes and shit, I'd recommend something else but I can't think of anything

I can help you been on the same boat but things are looking up. You need to grow out your hair and gradually get it cut with shears, not clippers, this is due to the fact that shears allow for an easier creation of texture than clippers would. You need to start conditioning your hair if you havent already started doing so and becoming aware of how often you shampoo.
With all said those things may be obvious to some but I'm retouching those aspects.
However the most important factors are training your hair to start falling back on itself. You can begin doing this when your hair is long enough I'd say when the front portions fall just above your eyebrows. Damp your hair and gently push it back and cap it with a beanie. It will take a while but soon you hair will start getting accustomed to falling in other directions instead of growing simply forwards

After all is said and done and you have grown out your hair you need to invest in a good hairdryer for when you style it in the morning. The heat will help give your hair more texture and it will make it easier to style in other directions.

Heres a quick vid from a korean who has thick asian hair and he basically can style it the same way someone with thinner and softer hair can. I know its not necessarily the same style and he can seem pretty metro, but focus on the tips when he blow drys his hair to style it.

To me, it looks course. I have pretty similar hair, and my hair does that, too. I would suggest using product in wet or semi-wet hair (experiment with that). If your hair is dry when you add product, it'll look like you woke up with product in your hair from the previous day.

Stay away from my dick, but you should do 2 things :

a) hydrate the hair : make yourself a spray with 100ml of water and 4 or 5ml of vegetable glycerin (which can be bought online or in some stores, lurk). Shake well and spray on your hair every day then let air dry.

b) nourish the hair : you can use coconut oil which has a great reputation, applying before the shampoo for at least 20 minutes, possibly wrapping a towel on your head to keep the heat in and make it more efficient (if you dont want to get the towel all oily, put a plastic bag on the hair, then the towel on top of that). Then shampoo as usual.

You can do that every 2 shampoos or every shampoo if you want but it's a bit overkill.

You can look on site like Aromazone for drops you can add to the spray I suggested, stuff like silk protein or some bullshit but what really matters is keeping the hair hydrated and nourished, and not nourishing as much as you hydrate.

NB : I didn't suggest any product to prevent mold from forming in the spray overtime (doesn't happen in 2 days but in the long run you want to be careful), so you can either add one (preferably not alchohol which makes the hair drier) or only make small quantities of the spray and check daily that it doesn't smell bad. It actually shouldnt smell like anything. Oh and its cheap as fuck too.
