There's a 32yo PhD student here that all the undergrad girls from 18-24 cream themselves over because he dresses like a normie 20yo but manages to pull it off (grows facial hair to hide his wrinkles and wears nondescript hats to hide his bald). Part of it is personality too imo. Don't try and act like a 20yo, act your age and behave more like a 'big bro' figure. just wear your clothes. the more casual ones. if you have to ask this question, you'll look uncomfortable in the younger clothes, which will show more than anything.

dressing for girls is a crap shoot. You should wear what you are most comfortable in so that you can be comfortable, personal, and yourself around them. This is more important than wearing the right clothes.

>>10193480
everything you've said about engineering lectures is correct but the way you talk about how they "won't be a virgin anyway" suggests that you yourself are probably a virgin

no, I'm a non-virgin girl who studies social sci. what i'm saying is that engineering girls in uni are kind of like how band and choir girls were in high school: unkempt, disgusting, but somehow get cock on the reg AND get uppity about it. because of the ratio in STEM majors, girls feel like they have their pick of the crop and then don't bother doing anything to put in an effort. it's pathetic but it works

STEM grill here. This is terrible speculation. It's half and half girls who end up in long term relationships (from anywhere in the 1-10/10 spectrum) with either someone out of their field or one of the few good fish in the cesspool of degenerate STEM genetics and half that won't touch any of the STEM guys (with good reason).

Problem is, I am comfortable in about everything, but I am currently lacking stuff like T-shirts and hoodies in my wardrobe. Might replace some of my aging dress shirts with some of that.

I like wearing suits (not a good idea for uni), I like wearing biz casual (seems like a good middle ground), I like wearing "tech wear" (I actually do climb and ski and all that stuff, and the town is close to the mountains, so that could also work, but overdoing it would also look out of place in stuff like economics), I like wearing blue collar stuff (in my engineering jobs, I actually had also to do funny stuff like digging around in landfills, or repairing machines, but that also would look weird at uni), so I am just looking for some input.

When I am at school during fall/spring semester, there are people who do try too hard to be cool. I see students wearing ill-fitting suits all the time just because they want to. If you're on campus just attending classes, the more simple your outfit is, the better. But also, depending on what you graduate with, this is possibly the only time where you do have a choice of kind of relaxing with what you wear. I'm not saying wear sweatpants or anything, but well fitted jeans and a t-shirt do go a long way (even outside of going to class).

End of Summer: black jeans, shorts (if too hot), t-shirts, light button downs, sneakers
Fall: t-shirts, sweaters, button downs, black jeans, boots, sneakers, sweatshirts, hoodies, light weight jackets
Winter: Wool coats, black jeans, boots, sweaters, button downs
Spring: Same as fall

Just make sure your clothing is well fitting and fit your personality. People can tell when you're not being you and fitting doesn't just mean how the clothes fit your body, they also have to fit your personality.

It depends on the type of hoodie and the look you're going for. If you're going for just a generic baggy hoodie, then you might as well not be bothering to ask since it's just a generic look that nobody will give a shit about. Black jeans are the obvious choice - make sure they fit.

Sneakers would be more versatile, especially since you're just getting into fashion. In that case, Stan Smiths are pretty popular and cheap for a white sneaker too.

I'm completely hopeless with fashion, I'm 24, and haven't bought clothes without my mom yet.
My plan for this year was to buy a bunch of plaid shirts because I think that's my best bet for looking decent. What's with all the negative responses, what's bad about plaid shirts now? Doesn't the wiki recommend them? I can see that the ones in the pic are bad.

>What's with all the negative responses
You are on the /fa/ subreddit of foRchan, everything is negative here (expect the aids tests, those are all positive…).

Personally, I only like plaid when its very broad patterned, classic, WOOLEN!!! flannel (=lumberjack core).

With other models, they are often seen on clueless folks who want to/have to dress up (engineering types) that fail miserably doing so, so that might explain it.

And the lumberjack ones are mostly worn by scrawny hipsters, who couldnt even hold, much less work with, an axe if their life depends on it, so those are burned too.

>I think that's my best bet for looking decent
Since you are talking bout this year, I assume fall semester, so for your best bet, I suggest woolen, knit sweaters. Expensive and handwash only, but very versatile and neutral-good looking.
