you can get a nice texture from straight hair but it's hard to get it to stay textured without any product, without getting lucky with your bedhair or something similar.

I think some of these guys actually ask the barber to layer their hair so that not every hair strand has the same length and it creates a texutre more easily, but you can get the texture without that using products, as I said.

I've been looking into sea salt sprays, but even a simple matte pomade can help give you the texture you want. I think the key is separation : you don't want your straight hair to dry all in the same direction, because then it looks too boring, like a well behaved school boy if you will.
