Someone is going to come up with clothes so useful and practical that no one will bother with looking good when looking normal has some advantage.

It probably won't be that different. I mean first and foremost clothing serves a function and in the future unless something radically changes the way we live we'll still need the same basic things from what we wear. It could look like anything though, I mean a thousand years ago if you told the people in some European town or city we'd be wearing what we are now they'd probably have seen you as a loon.

i remember a thread similar to this not too long ago. i suggested that in the near future, we'd most likely dress similar how they do in the film Her, as every few years or so we have a "retro" clothing movement, just like how we are currently having an 80s/90s revival.

what if we end up having a revival of the shittier aspects of 2010~ fashion? like dudebro and fratcore revival, ugg boots and leggings, socks in addidas sandals, and north face jackets? but they some how end up becoming nxtlvl through different color palettes, materials, etc.

I think clothes are usually used to be practical, to emphasize a certain body shape, to be eye catching and to show you fit in.

Practicality-wise I think clothes will be self-modifying. "Smart" shirts or something. Self-wicking, whatever.

Body-shape wise I'm not sure since that's dictated by culture with some things that tend to repeat.

Eye-catching, probably something like scene chicks or whatever the fuck. Fitting in will probably be whatever the rich have. They might reappropriate "edgy" culture like how they did with punk or grunge or whatever. If I could guess probably something on their faces that let them hide from the popo, except not since that shit would be heavily illegal.
